Bullying: How to Make it Stop Now
Over the year there has been many problems with bullying. Over the last year there has
been more and more kids that are being bullied. Most public places have put in no bullying
rules, such as prevention rules. Many people asked what makes a bully want to hurt other
people. Bullying has become one of the biggest problems in America today. Bullies are taking it
too far. Schools are now stepping up and putting in place bully prevention programs, laws, and
rules.
Bully causes problems in kids lives that will link to adult problems. According to
authors Copeland , Wolke, Angold and Costello, Youth who were victims of bullying had a
higher chance of having agoraphobia, anxiety and panic disorders.Youth who bullied were at risk
for antisocial personality disorder. Youth who bullied who were also victims of bullying were at
a higher risk for adult depression and panic disorder. For this group, there was an increased risk
for agoraphobia in females and suicidality in males. So bullying does impact many people. It
also cause trust problems.
The percent in kids who get bullied has increased big time. Katie Johnson stated, In this
year , 65 percent of victims said bullying was not reported by them or others to teachers or
school officials. Even when a bullying victim had suffered injury, 40 percent of the time the
students said the bullying was not reported. In fact, studies show only one or two out of every 10

incidents are being reported; 80 to 90 percent of incidents are un- reported and school leaders
remain in the dark. These incidents remain unnoticed for many reasons. Students may fear
retaliation from a bully or don't want to he embarrassed. They may feel their reports will he
ignored or that reporting it will make the situation worse. Many times students don't know where
or whom to turn to; they don't trust the administration or law enforcement, or they may have not
a way to report an incident anonymously (Johnson).
Schools all over the world are come up with no bullying rules. People came together and
came up with a project for schools to try called, The Bullying Project. The Bullying Project is
based on the Olweus research in Norway. On top of that it come up as a schoolwide zero
tolerance policy. Students are taught to stand up for themselves and to get help from a adult. It
always involved in counseling for the bully and support groups for the victim. Paul Smokowski
and Kelly Kopas said the program has been proven to work.
Bullying has become a big impact on peoples lives. People are working to stop bullying.
The schools and public places has had all they can they can take. If we stop bullying at the
beginning than it will stop. More kids and more kids are being bullied. They world we live in is
like: they can handle it, it is nothing, and we went through that when we were little. What most
people dont realize is that its gotten more aggressive.
