Water: How will the city get water? Where and how will you control this?

How will you

distribute the water?

The city will get the water the same way it is getting it right now. The only difference is
more money will be spent on making a water treatment plant.
This will benefit chico because it will clean dirty water, and make a local clean water
source. The city will benefit from having its own water treatment plan, which in a long
run save millions.
Another thing will be enforcing regulations that will help prevent any misuse of water.
Future chico will get its water from groundwater, and local watersheds.
Location- probably somewhere around a local water source.-Chico creek? Bidwell?
Benefits- Local water supply, creating jobs, prevent future droughts, recycle water, save
money.

TRANSPORTATION
-

Bike lanes for all roads

One bike lane through campus, safely get across town
Better bus system that runs 24 hours
Small scale solar powered street lights

Invest in better security systems

for bike parking lots
Buses free for students, funded by
small tax
Raise cost of parking permits to
discourage students from bringing
their cars
Encourage voluntary night escort
services (background check)
Arrange city with with campus in
the center, the businesses around, the residential areas around that, with farms
on the outskirts of town

AGRICULTURE
-

Most sustainable way is very self-reliant

Community/individual gardens

Limits on water in the drought

Ensures little to no waste in both the growing and harvesting processes
People gain appreciation for their food
Utilize farmland around us for our benefit to save costs on imports
Natural grass-fed (grazing) animals

Crop rotation- the practice of growing different crops in succession on the same
land chiefly to preserve the productive capacity of the soil

Energy:
where would the city get its energy?

- place solar panels on parking garages and on businesses.

saving energy and reducing bill cost:

- schools and businesses should turn off lights when there is no one
there. (provide good lighting in the streets)
- unplug any devices such as computers, and projectors when out of
school and business.

Waste and how it will be used:

-

Waste to energy or energy from waste is the process of generating energy in the
form of electricity and/or heat from the incineration of waste.
Incineration of waste materials converts the waste into ash, flue gas, and heat.
The city of Chico will transform the waste into heat directly through combustion or
produce it into a fuel commodity. (ex. methane, or synthetic fuels)

Governance:
-The community will come together through City Council meetings with
people of higher authority and there will be Town Hall meetings for the

whole community joined with the Mayor and his subordinates.

-Decisions for the town will be made through elections and voting
-The community will be informed by receiving all the information they need
to know through the mail, they will also receive phone calls, and there will
be Television announcement on the local TV channel.

Waste:
- the city will reuse the waste materials that can be recycled
- for the stuff that can be reuse we can always find a way to put it
in use for something
- the city could set up a committee who could vote on what to do
with the waste if anything

- have bins all around the school and have the bins colored
different for that waste product.
- punish the citizen with a fine if you see them throwing a waste
material in a wrong bin
