Learning Activity #1

Introduction
Greeting them as they come into the gym
Run 5 laps, 5 sit-ups and 5 pushups as their regular warm-up activity
Sit in circle when they are done
Does anyone remember what the word dribble means?
Its how soccer players keep control over their ball!
We are not kicking the soccer ball across the gym
We want to keep the soccer ball close to our feet when we dribble
We are going to practice dribbling while walking around the gym and
then we are going to be using cones

We are going to practice dribbling to become great soccer players

Body
Dribbling Around the Gym
When all students are sitting start instruction
We are going to practice dribbling which means controlling the ball as
we walk with it
This is very important in soccer so that players can keep the ball away
from other team as they dribble towards the net
Show example so everyone can see
The point of this drill is to not kick the ball away from you keep it close
to you
I am going to split you into two teams because we do not have enough
balls for everyone to dribble at the same time

Ready, set GO number ones!

Cone Dribbling
Demonstrate dribbling around pylons
We are practicing dribbling around pylons because it will help us keep
control over our balls
We are going to have 4 sets of pylons to practice on
Set up 4 cone stations in each corner of the gym
When I tell you which corner you are in you form a line
The person at the front of the line takes the soccer ball and and dribbles
it around the 3 pylons when you get to the last pylon pick up the ball
and give it to the next person in line and then that person goes.
Make sure everyone in your line gets a turn to practice
