Later that night, Dana snuck out of the cabin after Elizabeth fell asleep and ran over to

the barn to see the horses. She saw a beautiful chestnut brown gelding named Blizzy. Dana went
in his stall and sat down stroking his muzzle. Dana thought about what happened earlier with
Elizabeth and wished she could have introduced herself and made eye contact. Then Blizzy
snorted and shook his head. Dana got scared and backed away.
Hello! Dont be afraid. My name is Blizzy. Blizzy said.
Dana smiled and said, You can talk?!?
Yes, and I heard about what happened today with your roommate. Blizzy said.
You did? Dana replied.
Yes, and I would like to help you if you will let me. Blizzy said.
I want to make friends, but I dont know how. Dana replied.
How about I tell you a story? This story will help you know how to introduce yourself to others
and make friends. Blizzy said.
Dana nodded her head and listened attentively.
Blizzy began telling the story,
When I am at camp, I see lots of children.
When I see others, I should say hello.
Before I say hello, I should look at the persons face.
When I say hello to a new person, I tell them my name. Then, I ask them what their name is.
When I meet a new person and introduce myself, I can shake their hand.
It is polite to say hello to others, and it makes them happy. I like it when people say hello to me
too!
If people introduce themselves to me, then I will introduce myself to them.
It hurts other peoples feelings when I dont introduce myself after they introduce themselves.
It is fun to meet new people because I make new friends!
It can be hard to say hello to someone, but I know I can do it!
Dana got up after Blizzy told the story and realized it was way past her bedtime.
Good night, Blizzy. Dana said as she ran back to her cabin.
