SEARCH ASSIGNMENT MEMO
NOVEMBER 6, 2014

Introduction
The purpose of this memorandum is to serve the women in the community. Through
serving the women in the community we hope to help women through their crisis
pregnancies and then offer them continuing parenting education. One way to ensure that
more womens needs are meet is to provide them more services that are inexpensive to
them, doing this we hope to reach the financially unstable such as that of university level
women.
Background Information
There is the constant need to help women in the community whom are in the situation of an
unintended pregnancy. Women who have become pregnant tend to be more vulnerable to
their situation and are not aware of the help that can be offered to them through out their
pregnancy. Through this research we hope to find better ways to be of more help to women
through their pregnancy and after with educational parenting classes.
Research
We will provide a survey to the women in the community to establish if there is a need for
more options when it comes to prenatal care. We would interview current credited
pregnancy clinics in the area to understand how they feel how they fit into the community.
We would like to gain more community involvement by having a form of a donation-based
involvement for people of the community to donate to help however they can. We would
also like to look into how other states nationwide handle situations similar.
Resources
Through a search on the web and on the government grant website, we discovered potential
grants that are available and that could be potential options for us as we continue to further
our research.
The grant options are as follows:

Family Planning and Reproductive Health Methods

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is establishing an
APS for U.S. non-profit organizations. The purpose of this APS is to better meet the
needs of women and girls through out their reproductive lives. The APS would offer
the availability to address differing family planning methods and STI information.

Pregnancy Assistance Fund

The Pregnancy Assistance Fund (PAF) provides training, supportive services to help
support expectant and parenting teens, women, fathers and their families. Those
affected will have the services to complete high school or postsecondary degrees,
receive health care, childcare and housing.

William S. Abell Foundation

The William S. Abell Foundation aids organizations that crisis pregnancies. The
foundation would help fund health services, physician and obstetric nursing support,
pre-natal care and other related services for women in crisis pregnancies.

Our search results also presented other grant possibilities involving pregnancy.
However, those programs didnt fit the criteria of prenatal care for all women nor
did they offer continued care or education post-pregnancy, making our status of
eligibility unclear.

Reasoning
Listed above are budding opportunities that we believe could be vital to women and their
families in the community. Life is precious in every stage of life. Women need to feel loved
and one way that we can show them this is to offer prenatal care and parenting education, as
inexpensive as possible.
