NFL Dream

Mathew Reteguiz has spent countless hours and day on a football since the
age of four years old. The story of Mathew Reteguiz started on Sachem East PAL
football field witch were located in South Shore. Mathew had spent the next ten
year of every football season at those fields with the same two coaches and one
player every year. Frankie Reteguiz and Frank Levatino coached Mathew and
Christian Levatino every year since they first started on the same team named the
Flying Dutchmen. At the age of 15 Mathew moved from Sachem into Central Islip
but still never lost his best friendship with Christian. When Mathew turned 17 he
had heard tragic news that Frank Levatino died on a train from a heart attack on
August 29, 2013. When the next football season came Mathew didn't only play
because he wanted to be in the NFL but because he wanted to make the Levatino
family proud. Now everyday he plays he prays to Levatino to keep him safe and
healthy during the game.
During Mathews high school years he played on JV football for one year and

Varsity football for 2 years. During Mathews JV year he experienced two injuries
in the same location of the body. Mathew was taken to the hospital his first game
of JV football against Sachem East. The doctors in the hospital had to put his
dislocated shoulder back into his socket but they were unable to fix his messed up
nerves or his torn muscle. They had told him he would never be able to play
football ever again. Mathew was devastated with the news but after a year of
letting his shoulder heal and nerves he got right back into training his shoulder.
Junior year Mathew joined the Varsity football team and was a starter by the first
game. Mathew made it through his whole season without another injury and made
rank 50 in Long Island for defensive player. His senior year he was chosen to be a
captain of the football team.
After high school Mathew went to college at Nassau Community College for
two years and than transferred to University Of Connecticut to play for the
UCONN Huskies. Mathew didn't start till his 3rd year of college but every game he
started he put his all out from his 3rd year to 4th year. After his last year of college
he was drafted by the New England Patriots. Every football players dream was
first to be drafted but for Mathew he wanted to make it into the hall of fame.
Mathew now has the most sacks in history for sacks and interceptions. He is
finally living his moment of greatness.

A warrior does not give up on what he loves, he finds the love in what he
loves Frank Levatino January 07, 1966 - February 29, 2013.
