NOLI ME TANGERE CHAPTER 8 SUMMARY

As Crisostomo Ibarras carriage passed through the busiest part of Manila, he recognized some
of them which made him to smile.
He passed by the Arroceros Cigar Factory, which because of the strong odor coming from it,
made him sick when he was still a child. When he passed by the Botanical Garden, his smiled
gently faded. He compared it with the Botanical Gardens of Europe, which were well supplied
and tendered. He then passed by the Bagumbayan Field. Upon seeing the little mound in it, he
remembered the priest who have awakened his intellect and made him understand goodness and
justice.
Before dying, the priest reminded him to also pass on what he learned from him to succeeding
generations that will seek it. Since he was about to go to rich country, Ibarra was reminded to
learn from them what is lacking in the Philippines. The carriage passed by Malate and Ermita,
but he gave little thoughts about them.
