Overall Goal of Lesson: The goal of this lesson is to help the students understand the game of soccer and
basketball all in one, in a team atmosphere. This game will demand teamwork, cooperation and
sportsmanship to gain a positive atmosphere. The students will need to have prior knowledge of soccer
and basketball to be successful in the sport.
Instructional Objectives: The instructional objectives are to give the students understanding of team
sports, rules of the game and cooperation from fellow student. It will raise their understanding of
cardiovascular endurance because of the active style of the game if played accurately. The students will
also gain knowledge of collaboration and cooperation between their teammates

Student Activities: (Keep in mind the following: Scaffolding, Independent or Cooperative activities, Groupings, Reading,
Writing, Listening, Hands-On/Minds-On, Connections to previous knowledge, etc)
1) Students come in gym and start a movement activity (walking)
2) Students will warm-up with a 2 minute jog around the gym and then stretching.
3) Students will meet in the conversation circle where the next activity will be explained about the lesson and ask if students
have any prior knowledge of soccer or basketball.
4) Students will listen and understand the rules of the game of BOCCER.
5) Students will play the game and the teacher will monitor any issues that arise and modify the rules if needed.
Modifications/ELL Strategies:
Anticipatory Activity for Lesson:
Make the goals bigger. Take the

Set Up Lesson: Teacher will introduce the rules of the game and explain how the game is
played. How many on each team and what the positions will be. The teacher will then
divide the teams into 2 groups. Each team will need a goalkeeper.
Set Up Lesson/Independent Practice: The students will begin the game and teacher will
observe if changes will be needed. If teams need to be changed or students understand the
game rules. The game will start with the teacher acting as a referee and call fouls where they
occur. The teacher will also keep score and start and stop the game. He/she will attempt to
keep the game fair and the environment safe.
Lesson Closure: The teacher will bring players in for a cool down stretch and discuss
options to make the game better. Would any changes make the game more fun and
workable?
Assessment Methods/Strategies: Assessment will be participation of the activity. Did they
show enthusiasm for the game and attempts to participate in the lesson.
Resources (supplies, equipment, software, etc.): Soccer ball, pennies (2 colors of 8-10 plus 2 pennies
different colored for the goalkeepers), 4-8 cones, whistle
Reflection: After playing the game I would need to assess if the game was fair and the environment safe.
Do I need to accommodate the game for students with disabilities? Can I make the game more apt for
success for the students?
