Preamble Essay
On September 11, 2001 (9/11) the twin towers were destroyed in a terrorist
attack. When this happened, we had to act fast! After 9/11, we changed security and
our new laws about security. But before we could do anything, we had to make sure that
our new laws agreed with the Preamble. 9/11 scared the nation. What has the
government done about it now? The Preamble still provides justice, domestic tranquility,
and common defense in our government today.
Why the Preamble was made
The constitution is 6 pages long. The Preamble was meant to help shorten the
constitution because the constitution was so long. Also, it was meant to help with the
government because the new government was failing. The government didnt have any

ways to collect taxes, or force the states to send help to support the navy and army. The
government didn't have any way to generate money to help protect them from invasion
from Britain and Native Americans. Government also couldn't control the states. The
states could do anything without the government being able to stop them. Our
government had to change or else the government would have crumbled to pieces.
Line for line the Preamble
What does the preamble mean line for line? Starting with we the people of the
United States, means that it is it about everybody, not just one person. Next, In order
to form a more perfect union, means that they needed a better union because the one
they already had was failing. Then, establish justice, means to make sure that
everything is justified and right, and to develop a court and laws which keeps people
responsible for their actions. Next, insure domestic tranquility which means to squash
everything that could, or is causing a rebellion. Next there is provide for the common
defense, meaning that the government will have to try to protect us as a country. After
that, is promote the general welfare, which means that government will do things like
increase public safety and keep order. Next, secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves
and our posterity, government will take the necessary steps to see our safety and
security as a nation of free people, will endure for as long as there is a nation. Lastly,
do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of America, which
means that the Constitution was being established for America, or written and accepted
for America.

The government helps the victims of 9/11

According to the Preamble, the government will promote the general welfare.
This means that the government helped out many victims by giving money out to those
who had family members injured in the fall of twin towers. The government had given
some money out to people who had fallen victims of the collapse. In honor of all those
people who died in 9/11 there is a memorial with their names engraved on it. Many
people have to relive that horror every year, but they know that the government has at
least tried to help as much as they can.

Security
The government has increased airport security to help make sure there is never
a scene like 9/11 again .People are now forced to take their shoes off and go through a
full body scanner. At random times they will even pull a person over to make them go
through a thorough check. Also there is no type of liquid of any sort allowed on planes.

all of these new security measures are part of the provide for the common defense
part of the Preamble.
On some planes there is an air marshall, who is allowed to carry a gun on the
plane and act as a police officer. These people can carry a loaded gun and use it if
needed. Every air marshal has a secure phone and usually planes only have 1-2
marshals, but on some occasions, some planes have 3-4 if theyre bigger. These air
marshals also help protect the citizens of the United States from attack.
Establish justice
Our government made sure that 9/11 wouldnt happen again. They
established justice by killing the people who planned 9/11 like Osama Bin Ladin.
Another way the government had established justice, was by capturing anyone
associated with Osama Bin Ladin and his contacts. This project took about 4 years to
accomplish. People have felt a little safer now that they know that the person behind
this terrorist attack has been put to death and wont be able to do anything like that
again.
Conclusion
The Preamble has improved our government a lot since the Articles of
Confederation. The government has increased security and given tribute to the victims
of 9/11. The government still establishes justice, promotes the general welfare, and
provides for the common defense while securing the blessings of liberty and our
posterity.
