2. State Purpose and Objective(s) of Lesson: We are going to listen to the song were going to sing
and our accompanist will play our new song for us while we sing it.
3. Plan for Instruction:

A. Give them a quick vocal warm-up (Strategy 31). Something to get breath energy going.
B. Text Set: (www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZN1mryHEnQ) Strategy 28. Play audio recordings- Play the
song from the recording while the students are to follow along trying to read their voice part. While they are
following along to that, grab your voice recorder to record the students first performance of this song so
that they may see the progress that they have achieved by the end of the year.
C. Informal Formative Assessment/Formal Summative Assessment: (To prepare for Formal Summative
Choral Improvement Test) After the piece is listened to, the accompanist will come and play each of the
choirs four parts on piano while the choir sings along to their part. The teacher will begin recording as
soon as the choir is ready to sing.
D. Use Repetition, Practice Similar Sections, and Drilling strategies (Strategies 14, 17, 13 respectively) to
help students learn the notes.
4. Differentiation Considerations (accommodations): Be prepared to stop the choir or help them out
with tricky notes and rhythms so they dont trainwreck.
