Reflection
Looking back at my first reflection essay on English, I still agree with what I said before,
How you need to have a strong vocabulary in order to have your essay be both entertaining and
informative. I believe this because a story with a weak vocabulary will seem dull and not hook
the reader to the paper; however, a stronger vocabulary will keep the reader intrigued to the
paper. Although I still agree with the status of vocabulary in an essay, I do have a different
thought on my weaknesses towards English after completing UWRT-1102-t-h.
I personally believe that my writing skills have become much stronger after completing
UWRT 1102-t-h. I hoped to learn new strategies to increase my writing skills before taking this
class. I was able to obtain that goal through learning the concept of the Inquiry project. I believe
that the inquiry project helped me obtain my goal because it allowed me to brainstorm in more
depth, and allowed me to see all possible information to make my paper more informative and
entertaining to the reader. Although I was able to conquer my weakness of being a poor writer, I
still have the struggle of being a poor reader, along with some new goals I wish to obtain.
After completing UWRT 1102, I realized that I still have both old and new goals that I
would like to obtain. My old goal consists of becoming a much faster reader, however in order to
obtain this goal I will need to read much more in order to increase my speed. The new goals that

I wish to obtained are being able to increase my strength in writing poems. I made this a new
goal because no matter how many English classes I have taken, I still seem to have difficulty
mastering the structure/rhyme of poems.
I believe that the class procedure of completing the inquiry project first and then writing
the rough/final draft was a great writing habit to get into when completing papers. The inquiry
project was important to complete first because it allowed the writers to write down all the
scenarios/thoughts that could contribute to make the paper the best it could be. The rough draft
was important to follow after the inquiry project so that you could get someone elses opinion on
the paper, and help you remove any errors. The final essay was important to have last because,
you can then give your teacher the final product of your paper after placing all your thoughts
down and removing all the errors.
I believe that after this semester of UWRT I have become a much stronger writer, and
have been able to write a much clearer story for my readers. I have been able to read many other
writers works, which has allowed me to see all the different techniques in writing and has shown
me the best writing technique that suites myself. Although I do believe that I have become a
much stronger writer, I still have room for improvement to make myself the best possible writer I
can be, and in order to become the best, I will need to practice many more writings, both in and
outside of the classroom.
