When teachers are implementing activities with the children, Heather keenly observes and often takes notes. She is eager to learn all she can
about teaching children. During circle time, she is always willing to implement her knowledge of sign language and uses it as often as she can.
She is continuing to observe interactions and familiarize herself with the childrens interests so that she can implement her activities when she is
ready. Heather is developing and is not yet ready to complete a DRDP but is familiar with the assessment tool.

Heather has spent a lot of time learning all she can about each child. Since day one she has used her observations to carefully plan her activities
to support their learning preferences. She implements sign language each day while working with the children. Her calm demeanor helps her to
serve as a great role model for children that require individual attention. She works hard to understand them and meet their needs. Heather has
become acquainted with the DRDP and ECERS tools. She has gained an understanding how important these tools are in planning curriculum and
setting up a developmentally appropriate environment.

NAEYC Teaching Standard 4 Teaching and Learning: Student teachers integrate their understanding of and relationships with children and
families; their understanding of developmentally effective approaches to teaching and learning; and their knowledge of academic disciplines, to
design, implement, reflect, and evaluate experiences that promote positive development and learning for all children.
