Program Learning Outcome (PLO) Coversheet: PLO #2


PLO 2: Design, implement, and evaluate environments and activities that support positive
developmental play and learning outcomes for all young children.
Required Artifacts:
Activity Planning Form (CHDV 150 enhanced CHDV 210)
Block Plan (CHDV 150, enhanced in CHDV 210 as Teacher in Charge Project)
CHDV 200 culturally relevant block plan - optional
ECERS (CHDV 160), and Designs for Living and Learning component of the
Teacher in Charge Project

Knowledge: for each of the above artifacts, please list (using bullets) the knowledge you gained
pertaining to this PLO.
Activity Planning Form
o I have learned how to set goals and objectives for the activities I have planned.
Also, learning how to incorporate DRDP measures into these objectives and
formatting these activities in the correct format.
Block Plan
o I learned how to schedule a curriculum, how to create a proper form for a block
plan, and create transitions between activities.
ECERS
o I learned what ECERS was since I had never heard of it. Knowing how to observe
a classroom and what to look for and making sure the environment is play-based.
Skills: for each of the above artifacts, please list (using bullets) the skills you gained pertaining
to this PLO.
Activity Planning Form
o I have learned how to make sure the goals and objectives I have made for the
activity will be incorporated during the activity. I also learned how to help
scaffold children to accomplish learning outcomes.
Block Plan
o I learned how to manage time during my teacher in charge and how to implement
transitions throughout the day. I also learned how to plan different transition for
activities.

ECERS
o I learned how to evaluate a classroom, judge an area and see what is needed, and
how to give a facility an appropriate rating.
Growth: Please list ways, in which the knowledge and skills listed above, have grown as a
result of your student teaching experiences.
Activity Planning Form
o I have grown by learning how to plan activities around the interests of the
children in the classroom and to implement the objectives I had set.
Block Plan
o I was able to create transitions from activities which I had difficulties when I
made a block plan from CHDV 150 and apply them to my student teaching.
ECERS
o I can fully rate a facility with proper ratings in ways to benefit child.
Beliefs: How has completing the above assignments influenced your beliefs about the
importance of program/curriculum design, evaluation and assessment in supporting play-based
learning?
Activity Planning Form
o This assignment helped me create activities that were play-based and child-based
to fully engage the children for a full learning experience.
Block Plan
o This assignment showed me the importance of creating a fun curriculum that
children will really learn from and remember.
ECERS
o This assignment helped show me the importance of a childs environment in
regards to play.
Future Growth & Next Steps: Think about your future teaching, list three goals to help you
improve upon your existing knowledge and skills and your teaching.
My first goal would be to observe and rate future centers I will work at and give any
recommendations I have to benefit the center.
My second goal would be continuing to make activity plans as a future teacher. I would
like to have a plan on how my activities will work out even if I might have to change it
during the activity.
My third goal would be creating organized block plans for future curriculums I will be
planning.
