The History Of
Ever since Internet has been around there has been lots of different search
engines that are used to look up things on the Internet. Like Yahoo, Bing, Ask, and so
on. But out of all of them the most popular one is Google. In this essay Ill be talking
about the company Google, its
history, and how its impact on
people.
In 1995, founders Larry
Page and Sergey Brin met at
Stanford University. In 1996, they
had made a search engine
originally called BackRub that
used links to determine the
importance of individual web
pages. By September 4, 1998
they had founded their company Called Google. Google got its name from a play on
word googol which is a mathematical term for a 1 followed by a 100 zeros.
In 1998, Google made its first Google Doodle. It was initially intended to let
people know that they were offline and that they were at a Burning Man Festival. But

since then the doodles have become so popular that Google now has a team of
doodlers that make different doodles for different occasions. Google has more than
2,000 different doodles.

On April Fools Day in 2004, Google launched their first approach to an email
called Gmail that offered features like speedy search, lots of storage and threaded
messages. Finally on August 19, 2004 Google made its first initial public offering of
19,605,052 shares of common stock that took place on Wall Street. Also in 2004,
Google acquired a digital mapping company called Keyhole and by 2005, Google
Launched Google Maps and Google Earth. Today Google Maps offers features like live
traffic, transit directions and street level imagery. Google Earth Lets you explore the
earth, oceans and the moon.

In 2006, Google acquired an online video sharing site called YouTube and today
YouTube gets over 60 hours of video uploaded to it every minute. In 2007, Google
announced Android which is an open platform for mobile devices. In September 2,

2008, the company launched the beta of Google Chrome and made its full public
release on December 11, 2008. Google Chrome is the most widely used web browser in
the world...

Today the

and all else will follow. The business is primarily working on key areas like search,
advertising, operating systems and platforms,
enterprise, and hardware products. The company
also provides all of its products and services in more
than 50 countries, regions and territories, and in
more than 100 languages. Google makes most of its
revenue primarily from delivering online advertising.
In 16 years since 1998 when Google was first
founded it has managed to evolve its company into a
$382.47 Billion dollar business with over 70 offices in more than 40 countries around the
world.
