Worksheet to be completed
Drawing paper for me to do demo
6. Introduction/Anticipatory Set: I will write the learning target on the board to
give the students a clear idea of our objective. I will then ask the students to raise
their hands if they have worked with color pencils before. This will give me an
idea of where the students might be with their skill level.
(2 minutes)
7. Step-by-Step Lesson Process:
After the introduction, I will show the first video on techniques used with
color pencil. We will have a discussion at the end of the video. Is there
anything in the video that surprised you about color pencils? etc. (7
minutes)
We will watch the second video on blending. We will have a quick
discussion at the end for questions. (12 minutes)
Next, I will do a demo on a color pencil drawing that I have already begun
for the students to observe me work on. I will show them the difference
between making small circular pencil marks compared to lines. I will also

show them some of the blending techniques that I use as well as shading.
Modeling (5-7 minutes)
I will then hand out the worksheet that the students are to work on and
complete by the end of the class period for practice. We will go over it
together (guided practice) and then I will ask, What questions do you
have? If there are no questions, I will have the students me a thumbs
up/sideways/down on their understanding of what they are asked to do.
Checking for understanding (5 minutes)
The students will then gather their color pencils and have the rest of the
class period to work on their assignment. Independent practice (about 30
minutes)
As closure and assessment for the class period, the students will hand in
their assignment before the leave.
8. Differentiation: If a student is struggling and needs a time extension, they may
turn in their color pencil worksheet next class period. If a student is hearing
impaired, I will have the closed captioned version of the videos available. In order
to accommodate a student who needs a challenge, they may create a small color
pencil piece of their choice by next class period.
