Pick an article and describe the innovation as product or process, incremental or radical, enhancing or
destroying competence, architectual vs component. Also describe the S curve of learning and diffusion
for the innovation.

Drones as product delivery systems are both a a development of a product (creating delivery
drones) which goes side by side with the development of a process (new methods of delivering
mail).
The development of delivery drones involves an incremental and enhancing improvement of the
already-existing drone technology, and proposes a radical and destroying change to the process
of delivering goods.
Improving drone technology adds to the knowledge base and can be said to be a component
change. On the other hand it would be a major architectural redesign of the way we look at good
delivery.

The following is an S-plot of how I predict Googles drone delivery system will behave. The S-curve I see
in the development of drone delivery systems has a long initial improvement phase. It will majorly be held
back by legal, private and safety regulations as well as public concern, which will take a lot of effort to
overcome. The article mentions that Google X works on long-term, risky projects with big potential
payoffs, which Chief Executive Larry Page calls moonshots. The company hopes its drones will create
new economic growth opportunities by moving goods around more efficiently. It seems to me that a lot of
effort will be invested initially into improving the technology and exploring the different paths that can be
taken with it. After regulations are overridden and the delivery system is accepted it will see a steep
accelerated improvement.
