Teachers demonstrate empathy and caring for children in distress from physical or

social/psychological pain.
When Charles and kalli were playing tag Charles fell on the concrete. Charles cried because he
took a very good spill, he had scraped up his arm and leg pretty good. Immediately Mrs.Hand went over
to see if Charles is ok. She gently grabbed his arm to look at the damage, and she blew on it, as if she
was blowing magic on his arm to get him to calm down. She then asks if it felt better. Once he was calm
enough she took him to clean the wound and put a bandage on it. Mrs. Hand was very caring and truly
cared about Charles being hurt. She was very retentive when asking him if he was ok.

During free play time, teachers participate in pretend play, demonstrating the various support
strategies which enhance the childrens play.
When Jayion, Charles and Felix were playing with the blocks out side and playing Jurassic park
Mrs. Parr got down and started to pretend that she was a tourist that was afraid of dinosaurs. She
continued to play and make time frames of when the tourist was around the dinosaurs more she was
more comfortable.

Children interact easily with their peers during play activities and engage in increasingly longer
cooperation or collaborations of play, problem-solving and creativity.
When a huge group of children were playing in the sand they all played together as if they were
digging to china and playing at the beach as they were playing. They played there for about 20 minutes
pretending to be digging way down below the earths core.

Teachers provide sufficient opportunity for children to develop friendships by offering adequate
time to play. For 3-hour programs, the committee has established a minimum of 45 consecutive
minutes indoors (not to include clean-up) and 30 minutes outdoors.
When doing my Teacher in charge, We were drawing in shaving cream. I did ask open ended
questions as they were creating their art but I wanted to allow the children to share amongst
themselves to create peer cooperation. They also helped each other write their names and the letter
that are in wave.

During conflicts among children, teachers facilitate children solving their own problems by
guiding a discussion among the children, building upon each childs strengths and protecting each childs
vulnerability.
When Emma and Delilah were arguing who was the boss, the other children chimmed in by
telling them there did not need to be a leader in the game they were playing. Even though neither of
them agreed to this, it seemed as everyone agreed to play with no leaders they all got along and played
together. As this issue arose the other girls playing continued to remind these girls that they did not
need a leader and that is was more fun that way.
