The Effect of Using Mother Tongue in Teaching Mathematics

among selected Grade III pupils

Population:

183 Grade III pupils

Aim of the study:

To find out the perceived effect of using mother tongue in

teaching mathematics among selected Grade III pupils of
Ambray and Del Remedio elementary school in the Division
of San Pablo City.

Conclusion:

The pupils show positive attitude towards the used of mother

tongue as a medium if instruction in teaching mathematics.

Recommendation:

Mother tongue is good innovations in improving academic

performance in mathematics.
DepEd may provide in service training for teachers to
strengthen their skills in using mother tongue base
multilingual education.

Classification of Research
The researcher use the descriptive/ quantitative type of research. This
type of research methods requires quantifiable data involving numerical and statistical
explanations.

Quantitative

analysis

hinges

on

researchers understanding

the

assumptions inherent within different statistical models. It generates numerical data or

information that can be converted into numbers. The presentation of data is through
tables containing data in the form of numbers and statistics.
