REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT:
(Review objectives and vocabulary, assess learning)
Teacher will assess the skills of the students by their verbal responses to the questions to key
vocabulary, and their ability to differentiate between mammals and reptiles and explain important
characteristics of the animals. Teacher will then give a handout to the class in which they are
required to answer questions about mammals and reptiles. Teacher will be able to assess their
understanding after going over the responses to the worksheet. Teacher will assess what the
students with a higher order thinking question that asks them, "What would happen if you
switched a crocodile's habitat with a dolphin's habitat, and vice versa". This will help them think
about why certain animals have the characteristics they do, and why certain characteristics that
animals have make them fit to live in the areas that they do.

EXTENSION:
Teacher will show the student a new animal and ask the student if the animal is either a mammal
or a reptile. Because the newly introduced animal is an amphibian, student will assume the animal
is a reptile since amphibians and reptiles share similar characteristics. Teacher wil explain to the
student that the animal is an amphibian, and state the reasons why. Teacher will explain how an
amphibian is different from a reptile.
