Of the three types of organizational justice, which one does workplace

bullying most closely resemble?
Organizational justice is the subjective perception a person has of how fair their organization is. Job
satisfaction has been shown to be directly linked to positive work outcomes such as organizational
citizenship behaviors. Although it is relatively stable over time, a persons job satisfaction does vary on a
day-to-day basis. One key aspect that influences a persons daily job satisfaction is the perception of
justice in the organization.
We have three types of organizational justice, distributive justice-- When we think of distributive justice,
one of the first things that come to mind is 'am I being paid fairly? Although how much we are paid is
important for most people, distributive justice also covers who gets the exciting work and who gets the
mundane tasks, who gets the better career opportunities and promotions, etc. Procedural justice-- much
of the employment legislation focuses on establishing the minimum standards for what should happen in
the employment setting. Factors such as consistency, free from bias, based on fact, correctable,
democratic, ethical viewpoints, and legal considerations are all part of the process of making a fair
decision. Interactional justice-- regardless of who we are in the organization, we all expect to be treated
with dignity and respect, as well as being trusted, but how outcomes are communicated, including the
adequacy of the explanations and the timeliness of the communication, also shape our perceptions of what
is fair in the work setting.
Thus, Distributive justice concentrates on results and outcomes that are fair for everyone. Procedural
justice concentrates on the methods and procedures that should be fair for everyone. Interactional justice
looks at the way people interact with each other in a way that is fair for everyone. Work place bullying
most closely resembles interactional justice which is the degree to which an individual is treated with
dignity, concern and respect. Workplace bullying demonstrates a lack of Interactional Justice among the
three types of organizational justice. Bullying employee means, treating them without dignity, concern
and respect.
