The Board of Trustees for the Jasper County School District met on
Wednesday. December 10, 2014, to conduct the Superintendent's annual
evaluation for the 2013-14 school year, a process required by Board policy
and the Board's contract with the Superintendent.
For the purpose of Wednesday's meeting, Dr. Washington submitted a
lengthy report to all Board members outlining her perception of the District's
performance in the following areas of focus for the 2013-14 school year
previously adopted by the Board:

(1) student achievement; (2) human

resources, including recruitment and training of personnel; (3) financial


management

and

operations, including internal

technology;

(5)

District

controls;

(4)

improved

and

issues;

and

(6)

Board/Superintendent/community relations.

Dr. Washington's report was provided to the Board at its meeting on


December 2, 2014, and Board members were advised in writing by the Board

Chair to come to Wednesday's meeting prepared to comment on their overall


assessment of Dr. Washington's performance for the 2013-14 school year,
based on the Board members' review and individual assessment of the report,

along with other information relevant to the process.


Following the Board members' discussion of these matters among
themselves, the Board members conclusions were shared in Executive Session
with Dr. Washington.

Page Two - Statement

In open sessiOn, Board acted to publicly state the majority's conclusion that Dr.
Washington had given an above average performance in very difficult circumstances during
the 2013-14 school year. By the terms of her contract with the District, it will be extended for
one year, or until June 30, 2018, and the District will contribute 12% of her annual
compensation to a qualified annuity plan.
The Board and Superintendent will have further public discussion on previously
agreed upon District goals for the 2014-15 school year in January or early February 2015.
