Advantages and Disadvantages- Concept Attainment Concept Attainment does have a few potential drawbacks. As you want students to come to the concept at their own pace, this may take a large chunk of classroom time. Also if students think they have acquired the concept it must be accurate otherwise they may make false associations. The advantages, however, are that it promotes strong connection and is grounded in critical thinking and inquiry. This is also a fun method that students are sure to enjoy and remember, further promoting the retention of knowledge.
