Governance People who work in these occupations are involved with


managing the country, a state, or a city. Many are elected to a public
office by voters. Others are employed by the elected people to help
them with their job duties. Examples of such occupations are
members of Congress, governors, state officials, council members,
and their staffs.
Consumer Services People who work in this group of occupations
provide a wide range of services to others. These services may relate
to things as different as purchase of real estate, creating a public
image for a company, overseeing property, or having text or
conversation translated to another language.
Correction Services People who work in this group of occupations
are concerned with youth or adults who have broken the law. Some
investigate and solve crimes. Some guard criminals after they have
been placed in jail or prison. Others work with offenders who will
soon leave prison or have already left to help them find and keep
work. Still others monitor prisoners for a period of time after they
have been released.
Human Resources Management People who work in this group
support a business or non-profit organization by finding the best
employees they can to do the required work. They recruit and select
employees. They also are involved in setting salaries, orienting new
employees, and rating their work. In addition, they review, select, and

occupations collect, enter, and analyze data by computer. Some
organize computer databases. Others write computer programs. Still
others design the logic of computer systems and oversee their
operation.
Correction Services People who work in this group of occupations

to bring all the pieces together into a product.
Network Systems People who work in this group of occupations
design, install, and maintain computer networks. They first find out
what the needs of a facility or organization are for computer services.
Then they make a detailed plan, purchase the equipment, and install
it. They also make sure that the system continues to work properly

manage benefits for employees, such as insurance and retirement


plans.
Administration and Administrative Support People who work in
this group of occupations manage places where people of all ages are
learning new things. These places include schools, daycare centers,
colleges, businesses, and community organizations. They develop
curriculum, hire and manage those who teach, set policies, and
oversee all day-to-day activities.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Assurance People who work in
this group of occupations are focused on making our environment
safe. They apply methods to making contaminated land safe and
productive. They make and enforce rules in work places so that the
health and physical well-being of workers will be assured. Some
design office equipment that will cause the least amount of wear and
tear on the human body.
