The reference numbers of the camera controls are repeated below along with brief definitions and instructions how to start filming within minutes. If you adjust the controls to the red dots, you may start shooting without bothering about technicalities. Get to Know Your Nizo 1 Cassette Compartment Insert the film cassette here so that its label is visible — or the compartment door cannot be closed. 2 Film Indicator Window Here you can check any time whether your camera is loaded and what type of film is in the camera. 3 Film Footage Indicator Whenever you remove the cassette, the indicator will return to start position. 4 Aperture Control Switch can be adjusted to manual or auto operation; the third position is provided for battery checks. Battery checking: Adjust the switch to control. In this position, the switch is spring-loaded, so keep it there and check if the stop number indicated to the lett of the picture is between 2.8 and 22; in this case, you are ready for filming. A stop number of 2.8 or a lower value means: replace the battery. 5 Film Speed Switch Normally you will film with the red-dot adjustment of 18 frames per second (fps). Lower speeds are for time-lapse and higher speeds for slow-motion projection. 9 fps result in a time lapse X 2 and an aperture diameter increased by one stop, which is important in dim light. Use the switch position 1m for manual takes of single frames using either a wire release ‘or the optional Nizo remote-control release. The switch position 24 fps pro- vides a slight slow-motion effect and 96 fps a motion slowed-down % 2, that ‘one second of filming requires two seconds of projection time. Adjust to red dot. 6 Time Lapse Switch for automatic taking of 6 fps, 1 frame per second and 1 frame every 5 seconds. Adjust to red dot. 7 _ Flash Synchronizing Jack Will trigger the flash for each single frame taken in the automatic mode with switch 6 or manually with wire release. 8 Filter Switch Normal Super 8 film material is designed for the color temperature of artificial light. The built-in filter is to be switched ‘on for daylight filming. ‘Switch to the sun symbol. I! you want to film under artificial light, switch to the Jamp symbol that should then be visible on the switch. 9 Electrical Master Switch Adjust to red dot. Reset to 0 after ‘completion of your film work to disconnect the power supply and save battery life. 10 Eyepiece Control Adjust the lens system of your camera to your vision. Turn the control until you obtain a sharp image. 41. Range Indicating Ri Rotate this ring, calibrated in meters, until the vertical outlines of the subject in the upper and lower semicircles of the view- finder appear continuous (only Nizo 156 macro). Do this while the Zoom Control 12 is adjusted to 56 mm. To focus your Nizo 148 macro accurately, set it to the longest focal length (48 mm) and rotate ring until any double contours coincide in the viewfinder. a EEEE____eG
