SCANDELOUS TREATMENT OF
INDUSTRIAL WORKERS
FACTORY WORKERS TREATED AS
SLAVES
INDUSTRIALIZATION
How is industrialization affecting workers and what is it?
The working conditions in the United states are
I have interviewed
horrendous! There is nobody in authority to

workers and they
are imposing on their workers. Most workers
all say the same
work 6 to 7 days a week, 15 hours a day. All the
thing; they feel
long hours and hard work is hardly rewarded

them. They feel
is, even if a worker became hurt and was unable
that because they
to work, they did not receive any compensation,

nor do the factory owners pay them for time off

work. Not only are our people being treated

unfairly, but they are also being put in danger according to the work they do. But factory

want a fair amount of share in their profits,
they are creating labor unions. No matter
how hard the factory workers pushed their

not cared about or respected.
There
are
many
problems
with
Industrialization! It has had a giant effect on
our environment. Most environmental changes
have taken place in towns because they have
boomed with population growth. These changes
have caused overcrowding which has caused
serve problems. People are very unclean and
throw their waste out windows to be washed
down the gutters in the streets, factory owners
and workers are being forced to live together,
air pollution from burning coal is getting much
worse which is causing the people to breath in
coal smoke instead of air, and the water we are
drinking is now coming from wells and rivers
that are contaminated by sewage. Also! I think
we are all tired of the noise caused by the
railroads that are invading the town. All of this
put together is bringing a great risk of disease
to our families and us, as individuals.
Industrialization is also not fair what so ever!
Our people are being treated as slaves. It
requires work from many people and people
are willing to accept it no matter how unethical
it may seem, just to stay alive and provide for
their families.

MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO RECOGNIZE THE NEED
FOR A SYSTEM FOR IMPLEMENTING AUTHORITY, OR A
GOVERNMENT. THEY HAV E LIVED UNDER ABSOLU TE RULERS, SUCH
AS KINGS, WHO HAVE HAD TOTAL POWER. THE IDEA THAT PEOPLE
CAN GOVERN THEMSELVES THAT IS T HE IDEA OF DEMOCRACY .
MANY PEOPLE HAVE PUT CONTRIBUTIONS INTO T HESE IDEALS
THROUGHOUT THE CENTU RIES. RECENTLY THOUG H REPUBLICANS,
DEMOCRATS AND EXPLOI TATION OF THE POLITI CS HAVE CAUSED
POLICYMAKERS TO NOT SEE THE MAIN CONCERN WITH OUR
NATIONS ECONOMIC ISS UES. HAVING THESE EC ONOMIC PROBLEMS
CAUSE MANY THINGS TO GET PREPOSTEROUSLY O UT OF HAND.
DEMOCRATS ARE HAVING AN EDGE ON THE VOTES , WHICH THEN
GIVES A BOOST FOR THEM IN THE HOUSE OF R EPRESENTATIVES,
AND FARMERS PROTESTI NG THE GREAT TARI FFS. ORGANIZATIONS
WERE FORMED TO HELP WITH THESE DIFFICULT IES. THESE
ORGANIZATIONS WERE T HE FARMERS ALLIANCE , THIS GROUP
HOPED TO ESTABLISH C OMPANIES SO THEY COU LD MAKE THEM
HAVE HIGHER PRICES O N THEIR GOODS, AND T O ALSO MAKE LOANS
TO THE FARMERS THAT NEEDED IT. EVEN THOUG H
DISCRIMINATION WAS NOT DEFINITE IN THE S OUTH, THE NORTH
HAD REGULATIONS ON W HERE BLACKS COULD GO , WORKED, AND
TRANSPORTATION. THE SOUTH HAD MORE LAWS ON PEOPLE NOT
HURTING OR KILLING T HE BLACKS BECAUSE IT BECAME A LARGE
ISSUE.
