Final Project Rationale
The intended audiences for this project are teenagers above the age of 18 who have not received
their drivers license as well as Vietnam War veterans. The medium through which this group will present
its argument for the former will be an animated video. This medium was chosen because it seems to
appeal to the younger technological generation since it is presented thoroughly electronically. The
medium through which the group will present its argument for the latter will be a traditional brochure or
pamphlet. This medium was chosen due to its being more traditional and simplistic to appeal to elderly
audiences who probably are not as familiarized with animated presentations as would be a younger
audience.
As to the word choice, tone, images, etc that were used to appeal to respective audiences, the
brochure was written dispassionately and with a veneer of formality and cerebral argumentation. This
seemed appropriate because the elderly seem more prone to objective, plain logic than younger audiences
who generally prefer creativity and entertainment to clarity and precision. That is why the animation for
the younger audience appeals to their visual imagination as opposed to their analytical intellect. The tone
for them is more colorful and animated.
