Tricki was a small dog. His mistress, Mrs. Pumphrey
was a rich lady. She pampered her dog. She overfed him. Tricki never refuse food anytime. He was always greedy for food. The dog became very fat. His eyes were bloodshot. He could hardly walk. Mr. Herriot was a vet. He saw that the dog could fall very ill. So, he advised Tricki was a small dog. His mistress, Mrs.pumphrey was a rich lady. She pampered vised Mrs. Pumphrey to give the dog less to eat. He advised her to cut down on the sweet things and he asked her to give the dog plenty of exercise. But Mrs. Pumphery did not heed this advice. So, the dog became very fat. Mrs. Pumphrey thought the dog had no energy. She thought it was because of malnutrition. So, she started giving the dog many extra things to eat. She gave him much nutritious diet. She gave him more energy food. She gave him malt, cod-liver oil and Hurlocks. She gave him wine to drinks. All this made the dog very ill. The dog became very fat. One day, the dog stopped eating. He vomited again and again. He kept panting all the time. Mrs.Pumphrey was very much worried about him. She called Mr. Herriot who was a vet. He knew that tricki was suffering because of over eating. He had already made his plans. He said that the dog would have to be kept in the surgery for a fortnight. Mrs. Pumphrey was in tears. But she had to agree to it. Mrs. Herriot carried the dog in his car to his surgery. There, he put him in separate room. He didnt give the dog anythings to eat for two days. He did not give the dog any drugs. He gave him a lot of water to drink. On the third day, the dog showed signs of improvement. Then doctor started giving him some light food. After three or four days, Tricki was back to normal. He started running about with
other dog. He enjoyed being rolled over. At home, he had
almost no exercise but at surgery he had a lot of exercise and fun. Controlled diet and activities made him active.................................
