Shri Ram College of Commerce New Delhi 10th Oct 2013. Nomura Group, Sir/Maam, I am interested in the job opening as propositioned by the company and have enclosed my CV herewith for your consideration. Throughout college I have tried balancing academics, sport and co-curricular activities. I have been largely successful in accomplishing the same. I would attribute this success largely to my time management skills, my perseverance and my focus. Sport has inculcated in me traits of fairness, team work and co-ordination. My experience with different societies in college has made me an outspoken person. Handling pressure, deadlines and playing when the chips are down are few of the qualities I would say college has imbibed in me over the past two years. My internships in different fields of finance hold me in good stead to successfully gel in with the organisation and its goals. An analytical mind-set with a problem solving ability, I believe I can be an important cog in the Nomura wheel. With proper exposure, a career in the investment banking industry not only involves number crunching and data analytics but also decision making to a large extent. My keen interest in case studies will help me tackle dicey situations, at the same time being a member of the college basketball and korfball team has imbibed in me the importance of being grounded and approaching others if one is unclear on the road ahead. The job profile may require one to make an industry analysis. A task I have undertaken a few times during my internship. As sound as ones analysis is; if one cannot communicate the same to the client it would be a failure. My communication skills hold me in good stead for the same. Adapting oneself to the ever changing demands of the clients is crucial, something I can pull off in lieu of my experience from organising fests in college. Nomura with its superior clientele base and industry exposure would be an ideal breeding ground for a green horn like me to sharpen my skills. Looking forward to hearing from you, Yours Faithfully, Jacob V Mathew B.Com(Hons),Shri Ram College of Commerce.
