a conjunction. Conjunctions are words like but, and, because and meanwhile.
Another word for conjunctions are connectives.

structure of text:
structure of text in a story has 5 things to it. Some people call it the story
mountain and others call it structure of a story. The story mountain is in this
order.
Opening- this is setting the scene and introducing some of the characters. For
example. It was a beautiful day in sunset valley and john was lying under the ol'
apple tree. John was a rather small in height but tubby in the waist. He wore a
blue and red baseball cap and a purple shirt.
Build up- this is where the character(s) meet new people and start to get a
problem. For example. John walked into the playground and sat on a bench.
Suddenly a booming voice yelled GET OFF MY BENCH. John looked up saw
buff standing their with chip and lucas. Still startled, john didnt move.
Buff said again move idiot! john still didnt move. you may have won this time
but meet me tomorrow at miday at the ol' apple tree. We will settle this like
men.
Problem- this is where the character is worrying about whats going to happen
and what he is going to do. For example. John ran home that evening and went
straight to his room. 5 minutes later johns mom came up. john sweetie,
dinners ready!. John replied i dont want it (sob) whats up john. After a long
discussion of what to do he decided to do the right thing. Be prepared to bring
it to him with tricks not punches.
Resolution- the resolution is when the character solves the problem and begins
to be happy again. For example. Buff arived along with his cronies. huh the
wimp wimped out just as lucus fell down a hole covered with sticks and grass.
what the? then chip tripped over uh oh im outta here! said buff as he ran.

Ending- this is where the story ends. A good ending keeps the reader thinking
about the story and what would happen to the character next. For example.
John went home, beaming with delight. When he arrived his mom said what
are you smiling about? I went to the ol' apple tree and caught buff on camera
running away scared! Im going to show everyone replied john. ok. Im glad you
have settled in to your new home so well! yep I sure have made a lot of new
friends! And I think ill continue to make lots more
GENRE- genre is what type some thing is. There are lots of different genres
including thriller, action, romance, comedy, romcom, horror and sci fi. Looking
at the cover of something will often tell you what its about. For example a sci fi
film might have a picture of space or some aliens on it. If the cover doesnt
show you sometimes the opening lines hint what genre it is.
Clauses- there are 2 types of clauses. They are called main and subordinate
clauses. For example mark ate the cake and he enjoyed it.

Main

subordinate

a main clause makes sense on its own but a subordinate does not.
Subordinate clauses also provide more information on the noun and the verb.
Apostrophes:
apostrophes are used for 2 things.
To show 1 or more letters that are missing (contractions)
or to show that something belongs to someone (possession)
contractions- can't is short for can not
isn't is short for is not
haven't is short for has not.
Possession- singular possessions are shown with an 's added onto the end of a
noun (person, animal, place or thing)
in plural possession you don't add 's instead you add just an apostrophe for
