Individual Career Plan Criteria

My career objective is to be a Physical Therapist. An alternative career objective


would be an Occupational Therapist. Im a responsible, caring, and mature adult.
These values would contribute to me being a physical therapist significantly.
Physical therapists help patients decrease pain and improve strength. They also try
to prevent permanent disabilities or stop conditions from worsening. Physical
therapists review the doctor's referral and the patient's medical history. They test
the patient's posture, balance, strength, muscle function, and range of motion. When
their evaluation is complete, therapists write a treatment plan. North Georgia
College, Georgia State University, and Medical College of Georgia are all colleges that
offer a physical therapy program. Brenau University, Georgia Northwestern
Technical College, and Augusta Technical College offer Occupational Therapy.
Emory University has a Physical Therapy program, which requires a baccalaureate
degree, minimum overall GPA of 3.0, and 30 hours of PT observation. Armstrong
Atlantic State University has a physical therapy program as well. They require a
baccalaureate degree, minimum overall GPA 3.0, and a minimum prerequisite GPA
3.0. Augusta Technical College requires high school graduation, allied health
programs, most of the diploma and technical certificate of credit programs, and the
compass test, SAT, or ACT. Brenau University is another school that offers
Occupational Therapy. They require a minimum GPA of 2.5, SAT score of at least 900
or an ACT score of 18, and official transcript, G.E.D certificate, and an interview for
home schooled students. North Georgia College is located in Dahlonega, GA, Georgia
State University is located in Atlanta, GA, and Medical College of Georgia is located in
Augusta, GA. These are all possibilities of schools to attend in order to pursue
Physical Therapy. Schools that offer Occupational Therapy include Brenau
University in Gainesville, GA, Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Rome, GA,
and Augusta Technical College in Augusta, GA.
