Overview/Rational

1. Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by


laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end;
understand that the length measurement of an object is the number
Of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps. Limit to
contexts where the object being measured is spanned by a whole number of
Length units with no gaps or overlaps.

1. In this lesson students begin to explore the concept of time by


learning that clocks measure time in hour and minutes.
2. Help students discover and discuss.
Classroom clock, crayons, colored pencils. Photo of clock, Paper plate,
stickers will give student opportunity to use kidspiration.
1. When the students begin to understand the concept of a daily
schedule, introduce them to other tools that help them tell
time. Ask the students to look around the room and see if they
can find anything that helps tell time. If necessary, guide
students to look at the classroom clock. Explain that clocks
help people measure time in hour and minutes.
2. Help the students understand that clock come in all different
shapes and sizes.
3. Send students home to count how many clocks they can find in
their homes.
4. Have the students in the sing along to the Clock Song which
can be found at the following website:
http//www.canteach.ca/elementary/songspoems71.html
5. Write 1-12 on 12 separate index cards and place them on the
floor in a circle with students sitting around it. Place a long and
short ruler in the middle and move them to show different
times.
6. Each student should draw a clock on a paper plate using

construction paper to make the hands, and marker to label
each hour. The teacher should then tell the students to set the
clock to a given time and the correct one gets a sticker.

7- Students have to use kidespration to practice time and


entertain themselves. I will let them to draw a clock in
kidespration and tells me the time is (see example).also
student have to make deference between the night and day
time.
Assessment

1. The student should cut out the clock and glue it onto their
plate to represent what they know about time.
2. Students should find devices where digital clocks are available
in their daily lives. For example; ovens, TV, phone, microwave,
car, alarm clock, etc
