Design Rationale
In this table I lined the dosage of each immunization next to the
required age and centered the text to appear in the middle of each
cell. To cut down on the amount of cells, I merged the cells that
contained the same information. I chose the orange layout for its
vibrancy, and the deep orange color of the top bar of the chart helps
to draw the readers attention to the types of immunizations listed
and the required ages.
The age and types of immunizations are in bold text but I underlined
the age to separate it from the immunizations. The readers expect to
find all of the immunizations required for each age as well as the
dosage and frequency of each. Since there are eight age groups to
sort through I did not want the text to be too small, which would
make it harder for the readers to read. I set the text size at 10 and
used the font Georgia as this font appears larger at a small font size
and adds interest.

Design Evolution
In the beginning of creating this document I was a bit intimidated but
I kept trying to think of how I would want the information presented
to me. My first draft seemed lifeless. There was nothing special
about it and the text was so large that it made the bottom of the
chart break off onto a separate page. This moved the footnotes,
making it appear to be just thrown onto the page with no proper
alignment. I decided to make the font smaller to make the table fit
on all one page, but still making sure that it was legible.
During the creation of the final version I began to play around with
the font, changing it from Calibri to Georgia to add more of an
elegance. I moved the footnotes up to the upper portion of the
second page, placing the heading in bold. The title of the document
still did not appear like a title so I enlarged the text, placing the Child
Care Immunization Requirements in bold. I believe that the final
version is the most effective because all of the information is in close
proximity, and the text is legible. The layout captures the readers
interest, and the information is easy to find.

Design Assessment
I have always seemed to shy away from tables, as they always
seemed complicated and overwhelming to me. Needless to say when
I first started working on this document I was overwhelmed. I
thought to myself, theres not much that can be done to make this
look better. It is a table after all.
It took some playing around with Microsoft Word to find my comfort
zone. If I had more time to dedicate to this document I would have
really liked to add more creativity.
