Susan Brownell Anthony .

Susan B. Anthony

Susan Brownell Anthony was a womens rights activist . She was born in
February 15, 1820 . Anthony founded the National Woman Suffrage Association
(N.W.S.A.) in 1869 . The National Woman Suffrage Association was created to let
women have the privileges to vote just like men, so Anthony and a friend of hers
created The Revolution ,which was like a newspaper for womens rights, the motto was
Men their rights, and nothing more; women their rights, and nothing less which meant
that both male and female should have the same privileges to do or have the same
things, her privilege she wanted was voting .

In 1872 , Anthony voted illegally in the presidential election which then she was
arrested for and fined one hundred dollars, but of course Anthony wasnt going to pay
one hundred dollars just for voting, so she didnt. Anthony decided to vote because she
was getting tired of giving speeches and trying to convince others to support the women
rights association and just putting so much effort . She felt like people werent listening
to her or even caring anymore. Anthony never gave up though , infact that made her
keep going even further with N.W.S.A.

Many years later , in 1905 , Anthony met President Theodore Roosevelt in

Washington D.C. Anthony knew that was her chance to get to discuss with President
Roosevelt about N.W.S.A and how it should become a privilege around the state .
Sadly, a year later from all of that, Susan B. Anthony had passed away . Anthony

struggled throughout 60 years just to have the privilege of voting that never happened
throughout her 86 living years . That wasnt all of it though .

Although, she died knowing that women still werent allowed to vote , 14 years
later the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gave the privilege for all women to
vote .
Because of Susan B. Anthonys hard efforts and dedication to the N.W.S.A , the U.S.
Treasury Department honored her by putting her portrait on a one dollar coin . She was
also the first women to be very honored by many people all over the world even to this
day .

All in all , Susan Brownell Anthony was and still is such a big inspiration to many
people. She showed many people that she wasnt afraid to speak what she thought and
to keep going no matter what just like she once said, Failure is impossible and so she
proved herself right .
