I am writing to you because I need your help. Rather, I am writing

because there are many who need your help. The United States
has the largest PRISON POPULATION of any nation in the world
with well over two million inmates; with the highest incarceration
rate of any country, that number does not show much sign of
lessening. Not only is prison an abnormal and unhealthy way for
individuals to live(though it is the price for crime), but it puts a
strain on inmatesfamilies, as well as burdening society. How can
we help those already in prison and also help prevent future
convictions? The answer is the same answer to any social problem:
Jesus. (Politics, science, charity, etc. apart from Christ will never
solve a problem.) Not only does Christ offer a solace beyond that
which humans can extend, but He has a heart-changing impact
with life-changing results. While over two thirds of released
prisoners are arrested within three years of their liberation and
over half are re-incarcerated, those who profess Christ have a
recidivism of only 10-15% (Christians, though in the process of
sanctification, are still able to mess up, obviously).
This summer I am participating in the Saints Prison Ministry. Saints

is a nationwide organization that uses sports to reach inmates in

prison. My team will be going to prisons in Pennsylvania, New
York, New Jersey, and Maryland to play the inmates in softball,
usually on Saturdays. Usually, well play two softball games with
the inmates. We take a break between games, wherein one of our
number will give his testimony and another will follow with a
Gospel presentation. Also, the Saints are not an organization that
simply spits out the Bible at prisoners and then leaves them
without help. At each presentation of the Gospel, we hand out
New Testaments as well as forms to acquire the prisoners contact
information. Behind the athletes is a group of people that pray for
each prisoner and also send them a bunch of information as well
as the opportunity to enroll in the Saints Bible Correspondence
School. (The in mates also get birthday cards from the Saints at
the appropriate time each year). In the larger state and federal
prisons, we might have the opportunity to present the Good News
to thousands of prisoners; in some prisons, we may only get to
present the Gospel to the fifteen or so inmates we are playing
against if there are no large groups of spectators. Regardless of
numbers, every single soul is important and, if theres one thing
the Bibles clear on, it is that everyone needs Christ.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being
justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in
Christ Jesus
Romans 3:23-24

Even some of the prison guards get a chance to hear something

they need. Even those of us who are on the team and who are
evangelizing get to be evangelized. Personally, I have found both
witnessing to others and seeing others witness to be extremely
edifying and encouraging. On top of that, seeing the already living
faith of many of the inmates is tremendous.
Now,to get down to the nitty-gritty: in order for me to be able to
participate in this opportunity to advance Gods Kingdom, I need
two things.
First, and absolutely foremost, I need your prayers. And serious
prayer, to boot. I crave and need your dedicated and committed
prayers. Here is where I am going to make some confessions of
which I am ashamed, but please bear with me and realize that I, at
the least, am cognizant of these faults and desire to change them.
The truth is that even though I was with the Saints for a few
games last year (to find out what they were all about), and even
though I am now familiar with the procedure and workings of the
prisons and ministry, I still have a tremendously hard time with two
aspects of the short time we get to be with the prisoners. I
struggle with boldness in reaching out to the prisoners and I also
struggle with, sad to say, cynicism. My thoughts sometimes
venture to the realm of: What does this cheesy testimony from
my teammate even do for these men? Or: I see these men

nodding their heads, but how many of them actually understand

whats being said? How little I seem to esteem the Holy Spirit and
how hypocritical of me to judge so! I know my own sin and the
depth of its gravity, and I also claim to know the freeing grace that
God gives regardless of deeds or intellect or environment. Pray
that I will have confidence and boldness in Jesus Christ and pray
that the knowledge I have in my head will be what I act upon
rather than the self-righteous temptations I have. If you are willing
to commit to praying for me, please do whatever it takes to
mindfully lift my teammates and me up to God in prayer.
Also, keep in mind that my brothers, Ike and Seth may be joining
for a few games this season as well. Pray that they will be joyful
witnesses as well.
Second,(you guessed it!) I need moneythough not as much as I
need prayer. The Saints require me to raise $650 dollars to cover
the expenses of travel, equipment, food, providing Bible study
resources, etc. Thankfully, I suppose, my financial support is not as
great as it could be since I will not be participating in the weeklong crusade that the team is going on while I am involved, as
usual, for a month of the summer at Camp Susque. If you are
willing to assist me monetarily, you can make a check out to the
Saints Prison Ministry and put my name in the memo line. Then
stick it and the yellow Missionary Athlete Support Pledge Card in
the envelope provided and mail it. Yes, this is tax deductible.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I hope
that you will support me in whatever ways you can. Hopefully, I
will be able to update you as to how the season is going/went at
some time. If you would like to find out more about the Saints
organization, you could contact me, but I would suggest going to
a better source first, such as the Saints website:
www.saintsprisonministry.org
Or,if it is more your style, you could call their headquarters at 609845-3197
Again, thank you so much for your time! God bless you!
Sincerely,

Nathan J. Mansor
Then the King will say to those on His right, Come, you who are
blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from
the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave
Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to
drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you
clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me;
I was in prison, and you came to Me. Then the righteous will
answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or

thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see
You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When
did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? The King will
answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, to the extent that you
did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you
did it to Me.
