REMUS The shots fell.

They pushed the ball.
That felt pretty darn good.
Pine River got back to playing the
way it's accustomed to as the Bucks
rolled past Chippewa Hills 67-41 in
a non-conference boys basketball
game Monday night.
The Bucks had still been winning
of late but those victories had been a
struggle at times.

"It felt good to play Pine River

basketball," Pine River coach Brian
Goodenow said.
"We got out and forced the tempo
on offense and defense.
"We ran like crazy, too, in the first
half to stake ourselves to a lead. We
finally broke through with our shooting, too."
Pine River led 20-12 after the first
quarter and had a commanding 38-2
lead at halftime.
It was 52-37 going into the fourth

quarter.
Skyler Nelson paced Pine River
with 26 points and six rebounds
while Mitchell McDonald had 16
points and six assists.
Lucas Harris had seven points,
five rebounds, five assists and three
blocks while Brandon Hoaglund added seven rebounds and eight assists.
The Bucks (15-1 overall) host Lake
City on Thursday in Highland Conference action.
Pine River won the JV game 57-32.

Fans still lamenting the
loss of Earnhardt may
have mixed emotions about
seeing another driver in

But those closest to the
"Intimidator" welcomed its
return.
"I think it's great for Austin and Richard, grandson
and grandfather being able
to come together and doing
something like that with a
number that's been in their
family for so many years,"
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said. "It
has a lot of history inside
their family. ... I'm happy
for them.
"Once we get out on the
racetrack ... you won't
even think about the 3 on
the side. That will sort of
become normal. I'm glad
that it's back. It was going to come back. ... It's a
good situation that I can
be comfortable with, and

I'm happy for that because

it could have just as easily
been a difficult situation
that I wouldn't have been
comfortable with."
Childress kept the stylized version of the No.
3, but tweaked the color
scheme. He switched it
from a white number with
red trimming to a red number with black trimming.
That was enough to satisfy Dale Sr.'s mother, Martha, who had been uneasy
about seeing it back on the
track.
