AEI Flight 132 Hat

So named because it was ready when I arrived in Dublin. Cast

on at take off, ends weaved in baggage reclaim. It’s a pretty easy pat-
tern, it’s a six stitch, 8 row repeat. This works best with solid color yarn,
because the purls aren’t too terribly visible, but they do add a bit of interest to
a basically stockinette hat.
Materials: Frog Tree Alpaca Worsted Weight 1 1/2 skeins.
Needles: US size 7; 14 inch circs, and dpns to finish. Or size to get gauge
Gauge: 14.5 stitches = 4” in pattern.
Cast on 78 stitches
k3,p3 rib for 1.5 inches. 8 rows or so.
Now begin pattern:
1. k1, p1 *k5, p1*, end k4.
2-4. Knit.
5: k4, p1, *k5, p1*, end k1.
6-8: Knit
Shaping the top:
Continue in pattern for about 4.5 inches
or so, then begin the decreases:

6. Knit
7. K3, k2tog, * k8, k2tog* end k5
8. Knit
9. K2, k2tog, * k7, k2tog* end k5
10. Continue decreasing each row, rather than every other,
until you have 6 stitches on the dpns.
11. Thread up your tapestry needle and tie off the last six stitches
12. Weave in your ends and block if you want.
