By: Sir Mirza Sardar Hussain The Objective: The main objective of this course was to make us accounting and finance students realize the importance of management and the behaviour there is in any organization. The topics that we covered in Management were related to leadership ideas of how it is because of the leadership skills that a CEO possesses will affect the overall business, especially during its hard times. The importance of planning before carrying out a business and strategy formulation and implementation all deal with theories related to management. In class we were often given examples of different organizations that were having the same problems and how they overcame, such as K-Electric. The theories that were taught in class such as the MARS model, management by objective gave us a clear understanding how organizations get a vote of confidence from their employees in order to make their business more profitable. Moving on to the second part of the course which was the organizational behaviour part we learnt that organizations also have a psychological part towards them. There are values, codes and ethics that need to be followed by any organization to remain successful. Motivation to succeed and employee involvement in each decision should be there. Class experience and environment: Throughout the semester in fact since the very first class we have always been motivated to participate in class, be it through class presentations, giving examples to theories which apply to organisations in Pakistan or relating examples to IBA itself. It was learning made easy. We were not just bound to books to enhance our learning but we also had the permission to use the
internet on our gadgets to straightaway give examples of theories that are
being explained in the class. In the remaining few sessions there were class presentations, students searched over the internet articles, blogs that were related to our course. With each passing presentations Sir would highlight the importance of any point that is related to our culture and businesses in Pakistan.
