Environment analysis or constraints analysis is dealing with the learners, the

teachers and the teaching and learning situation. In the process of teaching and learning,
environment takes place as an important part in curriculum design because at its most
basic level it ensured that the course will be usable. So, there are such a circle line and
its connected with each other. An environmental constraint can be approach in two
ways. There are working within the constraint and overcoming the constraint. To work
within the constraint the curriculum designer could limit the goals of the course to fit
the available time. Further, overcoming the constraint the curriculum designer might try
to provide self-study options for work to be done outside of class time.
Needs analysis is directed mainly at the goals and content of a course. It means
the needs from each student would be different, it will show about learners ability and
knowledge and also what might learners need to know. Needs analysis make sure that
the course will contain relevant and useful things to learn. Moreover, needs analysis is
considering reliability, validity and practicality. How a needs analysis is completed will
depend on the situation, who is doing it, why it is being done, etc. For example, in the
first class I ever taught as a student teacher, my team-teacher and I really wanted to
customize our instruction. We wanted our students to feel like we valued their input and
opinions. We wanted them to see that we would implement suggestions that they gave
us so that they would feel that this was really their class. We put together a survey and a
questionnaire to give our students on the first day as a sort of informal needs analysis
that we could then use to help develop our lessons. We handed them out, and
immediately panicked when we realized our students couldn't understand a lick of what
we had just given them and that half of our first day's lesson was shot.
