Welcome to 10th grade World Literature with Miss Litus

Course Description:
This year in English students will read a variety of texts. Students will interpret, analyze, evaluate and
critique these texts to show their understanding of the literature. Students will demonstrate their
understanding through discussions, homework, essays, exams, presentations and projects. Students will
consider how these texts can relate to their own lives and personal experiences.

Classroom Rules:
* Be respectful of yourself and others.
* Please try to take care of personal needs before or after class.
* Be ready to begin class when the bell rings. That means sitting in your seat, not running in the door!
* Come to class prepared. Dont ask for a pencil or paper.
* Take care of all needs before you to come class (bathroom, water, etc.).
* Computers may be used only at aforementioned times. Assignments that I allow to be emailed MUST
be emailed BEFORE class.
Materials needed:
* Pencil or Pen (black or blue ink)
* Paper
* Folder
Student Responsibilities:
* If a student is absent or tardy, it is the responsibility of the student to follow school procedures to
get it excused.
* Come to class prepared.
* If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to obtain absent work & hand it in.
* Be responsible for your own learning. If you need extra help, please schedule an appointment.
* Turn in only quality work that you have tried your best on.
* Honor all due datesthey are there for a reason.
* If you have any questions ASK. Dont tell me later that you didnt understand.

* Work only on content material related to the class you are currently in.
* When we are reading novels, you must bring your novel to class every day.
Plagiarism and Cheating:
A big part of learning is showing your understanding of the material, which means you need to be able to
put information into your own words. Plagiarism is taking someone elses work and claiming it as your own;
this includes cutting and pasting from websites, books, other students work, etc. If you are caught
plagiarizing an assignment, you will be given a zero on the assignment. If a student is caught plagiarizing
from anothers work, both parties will be given a zero on the assignment and parents will be contacted.

Extra Help:
I will be available Tuesdays & Thursdays after school from 2:05 - 2:45 and by appointment.

Work:
* All work turned in must include your full name, date and class period.
* Any major assignment that is turned in late will have a 10% deducted for each school day that it is late
with a 50% cap. Please hand in ALL assignments on time.
* Homework turned in late will not be accepted.

Each day there will be a warm-up on the board a Do

immediately take your seat and begin the warm-up.
