My Philosophy for using Technology in Education

The purpose of education is to develop a person holistically.

I believe that the holistic development of a child will allow that child to become a well-rounded
individual later in society. This individual will be able to contribute positively to the economy
and create an effective work force.
Secondly I believe that technology in education play an integral part in the holistic development
of a child in that technology has become a part of their daily lives in an evolving digital culture.
Technology can be defined as the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes.
The word practical suggest to me that something has to be done through practice rather than
theory. Children are active learners who learn best through doing.
I believe that technology in education is a powerful tool that will help our children to solve
problems in a much easier way as they inter-face with the different technological devices both
low medium and high technology tools. Some of these tools include still pictures, tape recorder,
television, smartphone and digital camera.
Children are known today as DIGITAL NATIVES, that means they live in a digital world.
Additionally I believe that it is important to use technology in education because it keeps with
the changes of the time , it is of interest to the children, it caters to the different learning styles of
children, it gives children graphic information for a better understanding, it provides
reinforcement for children and it enhance integration.
Children do not learn in segments, neither do they learn in the same way. I therefore believe that
the use of technology in education serves as building blocks towards children successful future.
Some of the goals for using technology in education include active engagement, group
participation frequent interactions.
Children are social beings who are dependent on each other, therefore I believe that the use of
technology in education help to develop these critical aspects in children.
When children are actively engaged, their thinking skills are being developed, and also when
they are involved in group participation and frequent interactions, skills such as turn taking and
patience will be developed.
Some of the ways in which I can use technology to teach students includes, a power point gameshow review where children will be able to review lesson that were previously taught. Another
way is by audio and video recording.

I believe that teaching technology through these different ways will cater to the diversity of
students learning styles such as those who are auditory and visual learners, and will also bring
creativity, excitement and interest to the students.
