(Outside Gabriellas house]
Chad: Ive known this girl since grade two, and havent
forgotten about her since the first day I saw her. I dont
understand why my heart wants to jump out of my chest when I
want to talk to her, or when I see her, everything else just
seems to disappear. Its been long enough! Im going to tell
her how I feel about her ! How I find shes the most beautiful,
prettiest girl I know! I can do this. Why wouldnt she like
me. Im awesome! Well.. I mean im alright ..
(Emotions begin to appear)
Insecurity: Are you sure about this? I mean what if she says no?
What if she laughs at you?

Apathy: Would yall calm down, just let fate take the wheel. Now

Insecurity: No, dont do this Chad. Youre nothing compared to

her. Leave now before its too late, this is a bad idea.
Cocky: Oh shut up insecurity, you ruin everything.
Insecurity: I know, Im a MESS. Wait, does that mean hes a mess
too? Oh no.
Chad: (encouraging himself). You know what, Im just going to do
it. Im going to walk up to her doorstep, knock on her door and
just spit it out.
Chad: (Chad slowly walks to door, speaks to himself). Hey
Gabriella, how are you?! Yo girl whats happenin wanna grab a
bite to eat? Gabriella, you look stunning today! Hey babe, you
know what my shirt is made of? Boyfriend material. No,
no...thats lame. (Knocks on door).
Gabriella: (Opens door). Hey Chad! I didnt know you were going
to swing by! I wouldve put on something a little more decent,
than sweats. Anyways, hows it going?
Chad: Good, thanks. No its fine, you look hot today! I mean
nice, you look very nice today! I mean, I was going to ask
you..I was going to say...uhhh...umm...actually just forget its
fine, nevermind.
Gabriella: No, I want hear what you have to say! Cmon, were
buds. You know you can tell me anything you have on your mind.
Chad: Thats the thing, I was thinkin we could be more than
buds. Would you want to go out for dinner sometime? Or we can do
something else like bowling, bowling is cool too. OrGabriella: Are asking me on a date? Like a date date...like a
more than friends date? Like a hold hands and try not to be
awkward date?
Chad: Im trying to. How am I doing so far?
Gabriella: I think youre doing just fine. Ill be ready for 8!
I cant wait. See you tonight Chad! (Closes door).
Chad: Haha, yes! Woo! (Walks down door step,*Freezes*)
(One by one the emotions start speaking to frozen Gordie)

Cocky: Aww Yeah! Did you see the look on her face, shes so into
you bro. Those extra hours you spent at the gym and not studying

SCENE 2
Chad sits on bench, waiting for Gabriella. He gets increasingly
impatient and nervous. He appears inside his mind, interacting
with emotions.
Insecure: What are you doing?
Chad: Wha-what do you mean?
Insecure: This was a terrible idea. She doesnt like you like
that and you know it.
Apathy: Would you relax, Insecurity, hes got nothing to worry
about.
Insecure: Thats what you always say!
Apathy: And it kinda sorta seems like Im right most of the
time. Itll all work out.
Insecure: Youve gotta be kidding me.. right !?. I cant believe
how naive you are !? People are probably talking behind his back
and he never hears about it. Dont just play it off and tell him
things will be alright when in reality theres a very slim
chance of things actually being fine. This guy has the
popularity status of a shoe! And if he thinks he can date
someone like her, hes just stupid ! Hell just end up
embarrassing himself like always like the time he sneezed in a

girls face just when he was about to get his first kiss, or when
he farted in front of the class at show and tell or when he
burped at his cousins wedding!
Immaturity: (laughs)
Insecure: Knock it off, Immaturity, youre stressing me out.
Immaturity: Im sorry, but thats just hilarious.
Apathy: But seriously, that whole wedding thing wasnt even a
big deal.

Everyone: Ugh.
Love: Oh holy matrimony, When love is bound eternally by
religion! If that girl does not come to you, you must find her
yourself, and follow your heart!
Cocky: As if, love.
Love: Why must you crush my dreams, Cockiness?
Cocky: Because she should be running for him. Only the best of
the best deserve him, and he doesnt have time for anything
less.
Chad: Can you guys just shut up and let me think for a second?
Immaturity: Were just trying to help, you dimwit.
Cocky: Correction: Im trying to help. (grabs Chad) Now look,
this girl thinks you are the man, a bronze stallion. The only
reason shes running late is because shes too busy trying to
look her best for you. Once she shows up, shell say something
like:
Gabriella: (in mind) I want to be your everything. Youre the
only thing I ever think about. I want to serve you at your every
whim. Your toned arms, defined jawline, its what I need.
Insecure: No, no! Youve got it all wrong! Shes going to resent
you for all this. She just wants to be friends, obviously, and

youre screwing all of that up! Once she catches sight of your
pathetic face shell say:
Gabriella: How could you. This is ruining everything. Push your
stupid emotions aside and leave me alone.
Chad: None of thats true, youre both wrong. You dont know her
like I do.
Apathy: Maybe, things werent meant to turn out. Perhaps this is
for the better.
Cocky: No, cmon man, think about it.
Insecure: He doesnt have time, because here she comes!
Love: Okay, remember, youre her knight in shining armor!
Immaturity: Just go home, dude, girls are gross.
Love: Are you kidding?! Go get what your heart desires, chase
after her.
Apathy: Just be yourself. Youll do fine.
Chad: (sarcastic) Yeah, thanks. (Enters reality)
Gabriella: Hey! Sorry I was late, I missed the bus.
Chad: Oh, uh no worries. So how are you?
Gabriella: Im good, what about you?
Chad: Im good, Im good.

Gabriella: So, whats the plan for today? What are we going to
do?
Chad: Well, we could, uh
Love & Chad: (in unison) Were going to take a lovely walk
through the park and time will stop as we stroll hand in hand!
Well make each other laugh and make love under the stars as the
rest of the world melts around us!

Gabriella: (laughing) What are you talking about?

Chad: I - I dunno. Im so sorry. I dont know what happened
there.
Gabriella: Alright, fair enough. So what is it were doing?
Chad: Hm. How about we
Apathy & Chad: (in unison) ...just sit here and let time pass.
Gabriella: You dont wanna go do something?
Apathy & Chad: (in unison) Nah, were young. Theres no need to
rush things.
Gabriella: What do you mean by that?
Apathy & Chad: (in unison) Trust me, just let fate take its
course.
Gabriella: Youre acting awfully strange today.
Immaturity & Chad: (in unison) You know what we should do?
Wrestle! (Chad pushes Gabriella)
Gabriella: Jeez, what are you doing? Are you out of your mind?!
Immature & Chad: (in unison) Ugh, youre no fun. Lighten up
would ya? Tag youre it!

SCENE 3
Gabriella: Im not quite sure how I feel about this.like yeah,
Ive liked chad for awhile now, but I never thought that the day

would come when he actually admits he likes me too. The date

didnt really go as planned in my mind...I wanted it to be like
a fairy tale, when the princess meets her prince and they fall
in love and live a happily ever after.but were in
reality...things dont quite happen like that. I guess we will
see how it goes from here, and see if Chad and I are actually
meant to be. I hope so...because I really like him, and I
believe we would make the cutest couple ever! We would have the
most adorable children ever2 twins..one named Bill and one
named Bob. Wait... Im getting off topic...anyways...we would
make the most perfect couple, END OF STORY.
Gabriella: Um, hey about last night...
Chad: Maybe we shouldnt talk about it (starts to walk away,
Gabriella grabs him and pulls him aside)
Gabriella: No, really Chad, I want to talk about it. Honestly,
what's going on?
Chad: Look, I really like you Gabriella. A lot. I thought we
maybe had something going on, but I totally messed up last night
andGabriella: Hey, why do you think that?
Chad: Our date really didnt go how I thought it was going to,
and, yknow I ruined everything
Gabriella: ChadChad: I think I just need to be honest with you, and I need to
tell you that I feel (Gabriella freezes, each emotion comes out to talk to Chad as he
decides to tell her how he was feeling. Chad gets up and starts
pacing)
Cocky: Just tell her, okay! She won't turn you down, you have
nothing to be worried about! Youre a stud, and if she doesnt
see how amazing you are then its her loss.
Chad: You think?
Apathy: Meh, you might as well tell her. I mean, its your
decision and all but whats the worst that could happen anyway?

Insecure: The worst that could happen?! The friend zone,

followed by complete social exile, and then his parents abandon
him, obviously. Now hes on the streets, homeless. Thats the
worst that could happen, and he should at the least be prepared.
Love: That won't happen, because thats not how these love
stories work out. Sure, you may have your troubles here and
there, but who doesnt? You two were meant for each other!
Immaturity: Or, you know, you could just request a non-serious
relationship and all.
Love: Well wheres the love in that?
Insecurity: This is not going to end well.
Cocky: No, its going to end great, youre her everything, man.
Apathy: We just need to wait and see what happens guys, youre
all way too stressed about this whole thing. Make like Gandhi
and.aahhhhhhh..relaxxx...
Chad: Ugh, QUIET, please! Look, just give me a minute.
(all emotions whisper sorry and exit the stage)
Cocky: Just remember, confidence is key my friend. (said as
leaving)
(the emotions exit stage, Chad takes his original place and
prepares himself)
Chad: Ok, Im ready. (says to himself before going back to
reality)
Chad: I feel a huge range of emotions when Im with you.
Sometimes I overthink things, and honestly I just dont want to
mess anything up. I hate it, I cant stand the way my mind
operates. Its just so stupid, forget about it.
Gabriella: You know, Im kind of the same way. It may not seem
like it, but I feel all these emotions, Im afraid sometimes, or
just inappropriate, or even overly confident. I can be too
passionate, or not nearly enough. And its normal Chad, its

what makes us human and different. (emotions line up behind

Gabriella, one by one)
Chad: Really?
Gabriella: Yeah, Ive gone through all of these emotions before.

(Only Gabriella freezes)
Apathy: Well, I dont wanna sound rude, and Im not trying to
stir anything up, but I told you so. Not that it matters or
anything.
Cocky: Who are you kidding, Apathy? Im clearly the only one
whos helped this guy out. I told you shed like you, how could
she not?!
Insecure: She still hasnt technically told him she likes him
and all Dont get your hopes up. Who would say yes to someone
like us?
Apathy: You overthink everything.
Cocky: Youre all creating unrealistic expectations in his mind
when the only plausible option is that shes crazy about him.
Love: Cmon, what did you think Chad? She knows that when youre
in love you forget everything else around you. That you get
nervous and stumble your words. That your head becomes clouded
with thoughts and desires. She knows that when you love
someone...sometimes your heart forgets to beat. Shes a girl,
not an alien. Shes only human.
Immaturity: (sings) And I bleed when I fall down. Im only

Love: NOT NOW!
Immaturity: Biiiitttttchhhh. But seriously, that date went
amazing, by the end of the week youll be getting to third base
for sure! Youll see her boobs and everything! This is just a
perfect start to this relationship you guys are getting into.
The only thing I dont like about her is that she doesnt like
to wrestle! Like, what does she think is fun, knitting...HA!
Thats something only grandmas do. If she likes knitting were

Immaturity: Gosh, sorry.
Apathy: Didnt I tell you everything would be alright, you
really have to learn to take it easy with all this willy nilly,
girly wirly stuff. I mean, I just dont understand why you get
so worked up about these things, its such a waste of energy.
Just be yourself and everything else will fall into place. If
things dont work out, ah whatever. Then you move on, hit the
road, hitch hike your way into another girls heart. Theres 7
billion people on this planet, you got options dude. Girls
arent everything, sometimes you just got hang back with the
dudes. Chillax. But I mean, good for you everything worked out
well, maybe theres still hope for you kid. Stick with me, or

Chad: Well, uh, is this a date?
Gabriella: (says shyly) If you want it to be.
