Video Game Debate Reflection
I think I did well in the debate because I made strong points and resolved
very big over all problems. During the debate I made a strong point about how video
games including violent video games increase intelligence. After I made this point
the opposing side made another very strong point and the debate itself became
more intense. I also thought of a solution in which both sides would agree on, which
was balancing video games with human interaction and school. Overall I think I did
well in the debate because I made strong points and resolved very big over all
problems.
I think the best use of evidence in the debate was Jacob using evidence about
the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. I think this was the best use of evidence
because he related the mental gaming problems of Adam Lanza to the problems that
a lot of gamers also have as well. Jacob also brought more emotion and really made
the debate more engaging. After he spoke there was a lot more points tossed around
and the debate became more intense again.
I think that both sides won the debate. I think that both sides won the debate
because the only solution to use pros of video games and not use the negative
affects is to balance video games with human interactions and education. The most
difficult aspect of the debate was when Jacob and Damien made the point about the
Sandy Hook elementary massacre because it was very hard to oppose such a
tragedy. Overall the debate was a great success for myself and my fellow classmates.
