Julie Jorgensen Benefit

Some of you may already know about this situation. Julie Jorgensen, wife of Urbandale Police Sgt. Mark Jorgensen, is
hospitalized in Omaha in critical condition. Julie exhibited flu-like symptoms over the Christmas holidays and was
diagnosed with influenza A shortly after Christmas. On December 29th, she developed trouble breathing and was
admitted to Iowa Methodist directly to the ICU; unfortunately, her condition rapidly worsened. Ultimately, Julie was
placed on an ECMO machine (heart and lung bypass) and dialysis and transported to Omaha where she remains. The
outlook for Julie is uncertain. She has shown some signs of improvement, but the road for she, Mark, and their family,
will be a long one with hospitalization expected for at least several more weeks and possibly months. Mark and Julie are
the parents of two very young children. If you would like to keep informed of Julies progress, a caring bridge site has

As for the immediate future, first and foremost, the family welcomes any kind thoughts, prayers, or positive energy you
can send their way. Second, a benefit fund at Veridian Credit Union has been established to help pay for expenses the
family is experiencing with respect to lodging away from home, meals, etc. Checks can be made payable to: Julie
