Cleanliness the Parivartan Way

Parivartan-The Social Startup campaign was started by us on 6th December. A small group of about
6-8 college students (Anantraj Singh,Kabir Wadhwa,Abhishek Garg) volunteered for us and
supported for our cause. A small group can do wonders as people say. Also it negates the idea of
group cohesion and polarisation. Coming back to the work which our social start-up did, basically the
work involved removing old posters from the walls of our city of Patiala as it was a hindrance to the
beauty of the city. To begin with, we had a site inspection type drill where we marked the potential
targets i.e. areas with lots of old posters.
We divided ourselves into small groups and each group was assigned the target location. One group
visited the Kali Mata Mandir where there were lots of old posters stuck on the temple walls . On
seeing us remove the posters; the temple visitors were quite motivated and even helped us in
carrying out this noble act. Thus our aim to publicise our campaign and bringing this major issue to
limelight was satisfied. The other group went to the giant fortress of Qila Mubarak where the
surrounding walls of the fort were infiltrated by posters all around. Here also we made our
statement count and got the respect from the locals and the much needed publicity.
The last group visited the Gurdwara. Though tired and exhausted but still we didnt let these
thoughts drift away our main aim and continued the task of removing the posters from the
surrounding walls of the Gurdwara and here also the locals helped us. Tired and exhausted by our
tasks but thoroughly enjoying our tasks and gaining respect and affection of the locals made it a day
for our little group. The one defining moment out of this whole exercise was the love, respect and
support of the people around us every time when we were doing the task of poster removal in our
city which boosted our morale and made our work more enjoyable. At the end of the day nothing is
difficult if we have the will.
