GCSE Photography Proposal form

NAME: __________________
UNIT 2: EXTERNALLY SET TASK PROPOSAL FORM
My Chosen theme is:
Human Conditions is my chosen theme, in it I will be studying Companionship.

My reason for choosing this theme:

I chose this theme because I would like to explore in detail how we as humans develop
relationships and companionship with strangers, friends and family. This theme would allow
me to work outside of the studio and to develop my skills to use ISO and Aperture
effectively in natural lighting.

What areas could you start to look at within your chosen theme?
I would like to look at areas such as how we get along with others outside in public with
strangers compared to how we behave with family and friends.

How will you explore this theme? What locations, people, objects will you consider
I would like to visit different locations such as London and Windsor that I can access over
the weekends for new photo shoots. I want to go to these places because of the range of
different communities and cultures, which will give my images and project a deeper
meaning of how we as humans come together.

Please list artists/photographers who fits with your theme and explain how they link?
Many of the artists I have researched such as Henri Cartier Bresson and Peter Turnley
photograph people and capture them in the moment of an important event. I would like to
photograph people captured in a more natural environment of everyday life and the people
who influence us.

List any books or websites you have already looked at and galleries of place of interest you
could visit. How will you research your theme? I have used the internet to research Henri

theme.

Cartier Bresson and Peter Turnleys official websites to investigate the purpose behind their
own projects.

Explain how you will research appropriate sources and make your photographs Specifically
talk about what strengths do you have in terms of research, practical experience? camera
skills, lighting skills and editing skills?
This project will allow me to further improve my camera composition and ISO. I would also
like to experiment with what editing skills would work well in showing how we relate to
others and who we are when we are around other people. In my opinion I think black and
white will work well because it makes the image look as if it has been frozen in time. To
capture special moments in time of people together I think close ups will work well to
capture emotion.
