GRO 1000 Funding & Reporting Information

Funding
Over the course of the three year grant period the City of West Sacramento will be awarded a
total of $40,000 in monetary funds and product.The grant funds can only be used to fund three
specific project sites that have been outlined in the grant application:
1. 5th & C street Farm
2. Cummings Street & Douglas Way location
3. Yolo Education Center
The grant funds can only be used on specific projects outlined in the grant application in order to
fulfill the grant criteria:
Monetary Donations
1. A tool lending library at the 5th and C street farm location
2. Operating costs such as:
Paying for water
Irrigation systems
Pest control methods
Vegetable and plant starts
A permanent farm stand location near 5th and C street farm
In-Kind Donations Requested (provided donations to be determined by Scotts)
Tools (5 15 each)
Shovel
Hoes
Wheelbarrows
Trowel
Broadcasters
Oscillating hoes
Hoses
Nozzles
Watering cans
Harvest bins
Crates
Buckets
Back Pack sprayers
Spray Bottle
Wagons
Row covers
Drip irrigation supplies

Inputs
300 500 cubic yards of Scotts Organic Choice Compost
Spray for killing Bermuda grass (three applications on three acres)
Pesticide sprays (if close to organic standards / use on vegetable crops)
Scotts Organic Choice Mulch
Reporting Information
The City of West Sacramento will need to provide a report with the budget & spending on an
annual basis. The first report will be due in October of 2015, and the second in May of 2016
Year 1 (2015)
The City of West Sacramento will receive a grant in the amount of $25,000 ($15,000 cash;
$10,000 in-kind product from ScottsMiracle-Gro)
The City will have the opportunity to participate in a ScottsMiracle-Gro Community Garden
Academy Workshop. The workshop provides project-specific information on garden best
practices and how to help ensure the sustainability of the farm sites
First report due October 2015
Year 2 (2016)
The City of West Sacramento will receive a grant award of $7,500 ($5,000 cash; $2,500 in-kind
product from ScottsMiracle-Gro).
Second report due May 2016
Year 3 (2017)
The City of West Sacramento will receive a grant award of $7,500 ($5,000 cash; $2,500 in-kind
product from ScottsMiracle-Gro).
