GENERAL MECHANICS
Open to all street dancing groups, schools, barangay and dance troupe of General Santos City. Only one
(1) representative is allowed, representing their barangay, school and dance group respectively.
Contingents will parade in the designated parade route of the Kadsagayan Street Parade. This is the
mobile presentation of the competition. A focal presentation will be danced in front of the Oval Stage.
Prizes and the coveted Kadsagayan Street Dancing Champion title will be bestowed on the champions.
REQUIREMENTS
Each contingent must submit a completed Entry Form signed by either the Principal or Barangay
Captain whichever is applicable on or before January 25, 2010 to the Kalilangan Festival 2010 Secretariat
together with the Synopsis of their dance piece. Certain requirements must be satisfied together with the Entry
Form.
Contingent Manager/Coordinator or authorized representative must attend all meetings called by the
Festivals of Mindanao Event Manager and/or organizers.
MECHANICS
1. Concept or theme for each contingent is left to their own interpretation of what is relevant to this
year’s Kalilangan Festival theme “Honoring the Past, Understanding the Present and
Embracing the Future.” Costumes, music, props and performances must depict and represent the
Kalilangan Festival clearly.
2. Judging will be done in 2 phases of the parade; the Mobile Performance will comprise 30% of the
total score while the final Focal Performance will comprise the remaining 70%.
3. Mobile Presentations will be done in the designated Parade Route. Each contingent must dance a
progressive step.
4. Focal Presentations will be done at the Oval Plaza Stage. Presentations must be 6 minutes
(minimum) and 8 minutes (maximum). Violation of rules 3 and 4 will merit twenty (20) points
deduction from the total score.
5. Five-minutes will be given for the preparation of props and musical instruments for every
presentation. The performance time will start as soon as the preparation time elapses or as soon the
contingent to perform is ready. The official time of the presentation will end as soon as the music
stops.
6. The composition of each contingent shall be within the minimum or sixty (60), maximum of one
hundred (100) dancers, a minimum of ten (10) and a maximum of forty (40) instrumentalists.
Instrumentalists as part of the contingent must be in proper attire also consistent to their
theme/motif. Support staff for each contingent shall be limited to twenty (20) for security, food and
other assistance.
7. Contingents may only use live music using instruments of choice for focal presentation and mobile
presentations.
8. All hand props shall be carried by the dancers throughout the parade route during the mobile
presentations. Use of backdrop is allowed only during focal presentations.
9. Footwear must be used in both presentations and be consistent to the theme/motif.
10. The use of live animal sacrifices and children below 4 years old are strictly prohibited.
11. The use of flammable materials such as fireworks or pyrotechnics as part of the ritual are strictly
prohibited. A five (5) point deduction shall be imposed against any contingent who violates rules 10
and 11.
12. Safety must be observed in execution of presentations. Injury caused by dance routines will be the
responsibility of the contingent but basic medical service will be provided by the Kalilangan
Festival 2010 Organizing Committee (KFOC).
13. There will be 1 set of Judges for the Street Dancing Parade (Mobile and Focal).
14. The decision of the Judges is final. Clarifications may be done with the KFOC.
