SPECIFIC LESSON
OBJECTIVE

ASSESSMENT
(what & how)

Students should gain

an understanding of
how different
environmental
circumstances affect
lifecycles

Visual aids created by
students will allow for
a broader
understanding of
different stages.

Students will continue
to record
observations of living
things as they develop
through their life
cycle.

During the class
discussion
teachers can
informally assess
students through
analysing what
they remember
from the previous
lesson.

Taking notes on
each groups
progress and
understanding of
lifecycles.

Ongoing
assessment of
ability to work in
groups.

lifecycle?
The teacher will then ask students to categorise

and organise their information into the different

stages of their topics lifecycle.

Students will then be given the i-Pads and

introduced to the Popplet app.

Once a basic understanding of the app has been

developed the teacher will allow 5 minutes for

student to familiarise themselves with the

features.

Students will then be able to create a visual

understanding of what each lifecycle stage

involves.

Pictures of each stage should be found through

When observing
student progress,
teachers should
ensure they
engage in
conversation with
students at
educational risk.
This includes
students needing
extra assistance
understanding
each stage, as well
as high achieving
students who can
research further
into their topic.

Staying in their groups, with teacher supervision,

students will then observe their experiment,
making note of the new stage their lifecycle is in.

Students will then return back to class and
present their new images and observation notes
in their Book Creator.
Prior to lesson closure the teacher should allow
for each group to have a 10-minute discussion
about their findings. Other topics addressed may
include:
Are all members on track with their role?
Is the group Book Creator containing the
necessary components, Popplet and 2
observations including images?
How can they improve their journals
presentation?

How did your
plant/animal
change since
last time you
made
observations?
