The XSEED Program for schools
iDiscoveri XSEED is a comprehensive program for primary schools to enable all
children to learn better. It uses experiential and research based methods to ensure
that all children understand all concepts at school. Its purpose is to ensure that
each child passes out of primary school with a sound understanding of concepts,
an ability to express herself/himself and a life long yearning to learn.

The program has been adopted by over 60 schools in India and abroad. It has been
appreciated by leading educationists of the country including Dr. Chukka Ramaiah
(Ramaiah Institute, Hyderabad), Ms. Anu Monga (Principal, Bangalore
International School) and Shri Gulab Ramchandani (Ex Headmaster, The Doon
School, Dehradun).

As part of the XSEED program, the iDiscoveri team trains teachers and the school
leaders on innovative teaching methods. The team also provides them with
practical tools and research based materials to teach each topic. The application
oriented student workbooks and reading material for children complement this
training and tools since they too are based on a sound understanding of how
children learn. The program implementation is inspired by some of the best quality
improvement initiatives across domains, across the world.

The coverage of topics in the XSEED program is in line with the requirements of the
National Curriculum Framework (NCF-2005). It meets the requirements of various
board as well as the major national boards (CBSE/ ICSE) and at the same time helps
fill gaps that may exist. It is also suitable for use by IGCSE and IB schools as the
curriculum has been mapped on the learning standards of leading international
programs as well. XSEED is not an additional program that needs to be
implemented beyond class hours. It blends with
the day to day teaching as part of the academic
plan of the school.

iDiscoveri's pilot research indicates that XSEED

delivers significantly higher learning and
understanding amongst children versus regular
teaching. The performance is better both on recall
and higher order application questions. Teacher XSEED
practices in several areas show significant CLASS

improvement in the areas of collaboration, use of

experience and questioning.

XSEED is especially relevant in the context of changing patterns of board exams,

new requirements at workplaces and a fast emerging society. The program is an
endeavour to help children develop a strong foundation in the primary years –
critical for a child's development.

XSEED incorporates several innovative methods like use of manipulatives to learn
concepts in maths, use of authentic reading material along with readers to build
language skills in children, primary data collection in social science and classroom
experiments in science. In English, grammar is learnt in contexts of application so
that it doesn't remain a boring set of rules but a rhythm provider in
communication. Similarly, social science is learnt in the context of society around
them using project work in addition to reading and finding information.

Each topic in XSEED progresses through the Experience 4 Observation 4 Analysis

4 Action cycle. Thus, the program goes beyond text books and digital content that
largely focus on listening and learning or reading and listening. The following give

The XSEED program follows an ongoing assessment system. This ensures that
teachers are able to detect issues with the child's learning as soon as they teach and
hence take timely corrective action. The program enables children to learn at their
own pace. Hence it provides additional challenge to faster learners and the
opportunity to others to catch up.
XSEED has already reached over 60 schools across India, Bhutan and UAE. The
journey has just begun..
