Governance. It's a big word. It's an important word. Good
governance is an entirely different thing all together. Good
governance means many different things to many different
people, with many different backgrounds. To some people it
could be freedom of speech or the right to vote. To others it
could mean responsibility, or to just have roads to drive on. But
to me, good governance means transparency and responsibility,
provision of education and healthcare, and providing us what we
need.
A good government should have many qualities. However, the
most important ones in my mind include transparency,
responsibility, and participation. All good governments should
have transparency because the people want to know what the
government is doing, because they may or may not agree. I think
responsibility and participation are equally important because
everybody wants to have a responsible government who has the
people’s best interests in mind, and many people want to
participate in what the government is planning.
In addition, all good governments should supply their people
with services such as education and healthcare. Education is
very important because without it, there would be very few
people, if any at all, that would be able to get jobs, or even get
money to buy food or water. Education also helps you grow andsupport one another. Healthcare is so important as well because
not only does it help the sick, but it supplies many people with
jobs and medicine. I am very lucky that I live in Canada because
we receive free healthcare, whereas people in places such as the
United States do not.
Tam very happy that I live in Corer Brook, Newfoundland,
because we have a good government that provides us with what
we need. A good government should give their people roads to
drive on, buildings to work in, and parks to walk in. It should
also provide the right to vote, for example, to choose who we
want to be mayor. Everybody should have freedom of speech,
and be able to be who you want to be.
In conclusion, good governance means many different things to
many different people. | believe that good government means
transparency and responsibility, providing us with education and
healthcare, and giving us what we need. My wish for the world
is that everyone will have good governance, and therefore the
potential to be happy.
